But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

The housing projects here consists a majority of Spainish speakers! It's so weird. These people need to get a job, learn English, and adapt to culture. I live nearby them, and I am Asian. English is my second language. I speak better than these people, not only that, my English is superior compared to most English speakers as well. Not bad for English as a second language.

I love to call these people lazy bums, scums, pigs, etc...I know it's mean. But, because they give up learning English, I like to put them down. If they think I'm wrong, they just need to prove that they are better with English.

Anyway...this is way off topic. The point being, these people don't know any better with the noise. They are alot older than I am, and are stupid.

oooooo are you gonna get slammed for that, connie. ( cringes ).

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Spill hot coffee on yourself blame the resturant.

Bad example, if you're talking about the McDonalds incident. Have a read of this:

http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a3b77256026e6.htm

BTW - I wouldn't normally be quoting a conservative news source, but there report on this incident is a good one.

FreeRepublic.com isn't a news source; it's just a gathering of conservatives who whine as they complain about liberals who whine. The source of that story is www.lectlaw.com, not FreeRepublic.com.

I don't think it's a matter of being from from Puerto Rico, but a matter of age. I must confess I listen to loud music while driving  , but it's not like I'm trying to show up ''woohoo I have a great stereo system'', it's just because I like to listen to music very loud or not listen at all. But everything has a limit. I turn down the volume when I'm close to schools, hospitals, when I'm driving in a low speed residencial zone, of course at the military base, when I'm arriving at my destination and on red signs (I dislike people looking at me). Oh, and when Charles is with me because he doesn't like loud music :P .

Yeah, but Brazilian music is good. People WANT to hear that.

I hate to break it to you...but you make a lot of mistakes in English. You're not really in any position to put down native speakers when you make as many mistakes as you do. Sure, your English is good. However, it is FAR from perfect, and it's pretty arrogant of you to think that you speak it better than a native. Judging from the quality of your writing I would say that you don't.

BTW, if your neighbors bother you so much might I suggest that you MOVE?

Being expsoed to music (regardless of country of origin or spoken language) from a vehicle that is passing or even while idling at an intersection will not cause permanent hearing damage. Hearing damage is caused by prolonged exposure to noise or other medical reasons. That doesn't include a minute or two of hearing "the thump" from the car next to you even if it's several times a day. It has to be a continuously high level, and even that has to be over a long period of time. Several months, if not years.

If you've had a pre-existing medical condition, such as fluid build-up in the inner ears, your case that "boom cars" are causing hearing damage is not an effective argument. You cannot (legally) shoot someone for trying to deafen you with their car stereo, so please do not buy a gun.

What I would suggest though, is if you're parked next to them at a light, ask them nicely to turn it down for a second, and explain that you have bad ears, and loud noises, (not just their music) cause pain your ears. I feel you, I've had several surgeries on my ears as well, and loud music hurts my ears too.... but so does going up and down in elevation, having a breeze blow in, cold/hot air, one window open (pressure imbalance in the vehicle) even cigarette smoke. There are a variety of things that will cause pain in someone with ear problem's ears. Ask them nicely to turn it down for a few seconds, or just be patient and they'll go away! If it's someone in your apartment building or near your home, they HAVE TO turn it down, as they're causing a public disturbance. Ask them nicely, and if they don't do it.... call the police. You don't have to put up with it. Believe it or not, most people will turn their music down if asked nicely. Not, "Turn that f#@king $#!t off!", but a "hey guys, would you mind turning that down? I'd really appreciate it, as I've gotta work early tomorrow, or my kid's sleeping, or whatever." Most people will do it. If they don't, call the cops!

There's no way to say that someone's "boom car" is doing anything other than causing you temporary discomfort, and dissatisfaction. That's no grounds for a lawsuit, and really, it's amazing that it's grounds for a six page thread on VJ!

And in a side note..... Using a "pinch" (an EMP producing device) would require way more energy than most people could produce in their homes or vehicles. What would work on car alarms, and maybe even some stereos is a stun gun. If you can hit a car with a stun gun, it will short out the fuses of the alarm system, and if you're lucky, maybe even the stereo too!

Hmm...This is an informal forum. You don't need to spend the time to correct it. However, I would move if given the chance. When my wife arrives, that is when I move. Don't you also agree morons are bothersome people?

If you don't, I certainly do.

Oh come on, most of their stories come from places like BBC, MSNBC and CNN.

Not as bothersome as arrogant busybodies, no.

Just some minor gramatical corrections of your "superior English". I've crossed out that which was incorrect, and the corrections appear in blue. :D Four mistakes in a post containing 3 paragraphs is not quite something you should be boasting about. It also makes your claim of superiority in the English language, vis-a-vis native English speaker a joke. It makes you look foolish.

A bit of a heads up...many, for whom English is a second language, read/write with an admirable proficiency, but you ask them to speak and its another story alltogether. Their spoken English is very difficult to understand due to the accent which varies in "heavyness," and depends on the "mother tongue" of the speaker. Unless you emigrated to the states at a very young age, you more than likely have an accent in your spoken english. Please don't claim to be superior to native born speakers of this language, because the minute you open your mouth you scream "immigrant" or "non-native speaker". That is something they will always have on you....those native English speakers. Unfortunately in the eyes of some people, (with pea brains and mentalities like yours) that accent in the spoken word is enough to be looked down upon and ridiculed.

I agree with pretty much everything you said but in foreign language acquisition, writing is usually the last component that is mastered. People can acquire 'passive fluency' relatively quickly, i.e. they can read the language and understand it when it is spoken to them, but 'active fluency' is tougher. Speaking almost always comes before writing, even in a classroom setting...and writing is the first thing you lose if you stop practicing, then speaking. Passive fluency takes a while to go away. I haven't practiced Portuguese in about 10 years, but I can still read and understand it. I find it difficult to speak it but I can't write it to save my life. Not anymore, anyway.
