Tuesday I woke up and walked outside to my truck and this is what I saw. Now I know this isn't a big deal but when I tried to scare it away it just looked at me. It wasn't scared or anything. So I walked inside and grabbed my camera and a piece of bread. After snapping a picture, I approached it holding a small piece of bread out. After I got pretty close, it attempted to snatch the bread out of my hand but missed and flew away. Now I'm not a bird expert but this can't be normal. I just used my truck the night before and the size of the nest was impressive. I asked around and was advised that when birds are about to lay eggs, they are not as scared as usual. Anyway, it was pretty neat, just wanted to share it.

Well isn't that interesting... some people say it's a good sign. If you hadn't said, I'd have wondered how long the truck was sitting..amazing huh?

Looks like a Morning Dove...

It is a morning dove, for sure. Gentle creatures. I have rescued a few in the past ,and found them to be very tame and loving. This bird is your gift, treat it kindly and reap your reward !

BTW, they like to eat seed and are basically ground feeders, so maybe you can but some wild bird seed and place it nearby.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Awww...pretty bird. And it's a mourning dove, so called because the sound they make sounds as if they are in mourning. We have a mating pair that comes to our feeder every day.

Did the nest have any eggs in it?

No, it didnt have any eggs in it. I should have taken more pictures of the nest after it flew away. Impressive size for being built overnight!

Cool pic! So what are you going to do about the nest?

I disposed of it. I felt bad because I know that dove worked hard building it but I need my truck
