I had to look him up because I don't pay much attention to military high command. After briefly researching him, he seems like a well respected, well decorated man with the experience required for a position like that. Trump needs to make more decisions like him.

Well congress will have to work on a waiver as he's only been out of the military for 4 years, not the required 7 (by law).

So no surprise that there hasn't been a definite announcement as of now. A few days, maybe?

Mattis will bring a real soldier back into the position. It will take years to get rid of all the PC Social Experiments that Ashton Carter has put in place.

As a Former Marine this is AWESOME to say the least. Gen. Mattis was a Marine's Marine while he was in the Marines, and a great General to say the least. He is known to think outside the box on a number of issues and to actually think a situation through to understand what ramifications it could present down the line if we say bombed someone. If Trump picks him then this is YUGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEE.

Good to see someone who knows the ins and outs of the military is being considered. He wont be fooled into doing things by the joint chiefs that might not be a good idea like a civilian might.

You should of saw me the night of the Elections. I made a beer run at 11:30 p.m., and I don't drink very often. About 2:30 am I was fist pumping the air, and strutting around, there were congratulatory phone calls/texts, I was one of the first in my group to support Trump and in the end everyone I knew that were good friends were Trump supporters in the end.

If we can get Mattis to be nominated this will be a major win for America as well.
