Hello,

I'm a bit confused on when is the affidavit of support is supposed to be provided and the type of documentation that is needed. Our NOA2 is approved and we're waiting on information from US Embassy in Dominican Republic but can't seem to find information on when are we supposed to provide the affidavit. Is it at the interview along w/ paystubs and employment letter? Anything you can share is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Unless you are to supply it prior to the interview to the Embassy in the D.R., not specifically sure how it works there; but in general,

You would take the I-134 with supporting documentation (W2's, pay stubs, 1040 form/tax transcripts, letter from employer, and same from a co-sponsor if using one) to the interview. that's when you would submit/show them to the consulate.

Affidavit of support is not provided until you get to the National Visa Center stage.

K1 does not need to bring affidavit to interview.

I went didn't bring as well as 2 other couples with me.

for K1 Only. I believe this is no longer a requirement for DR embassy. But if you decide to bring one anyway it would be the 134.

One piece of Advice

when someone says "Don't bring ______"

DON'T LISTEN TO THEM>

Bring EVERYTHING....EVE...RY.....THING.

The LAST place you want to be is placed under Administrative Processing not knowing if, and when, you'll get your visa, because you forgot something.

Trust me on that one!

Well different consulates require different forms sometimes. There are items that are consulate specific. If you listen to the advice of VJers from your same consulate you should be fine. The I-134 can be found in the example forms and form downloads if you would like to prepare it just in case.

just take everything just incase , you just never know

Agreed! No sense in leaving something behind since it might cause a denial. I've been told that the Thai embassy only requires an I-134 and most recent 1040. In addition to those two things, I'm sending my fiancee a letter of employment, a month's worth of pay stubs, and my last 3 years of W2's.

Bottom line: You can never be too prepared.
