FBI police certificate required?

Hi there,

I'm the USC and my wife is French. She lived in the US for a time (more than six months after the age of 16), and France. I have her police certificate for France, but do I need to get one for her from the FBI for the time she was in the US? I would hope that they would cover background checks in the states during the USCIS part of the deal...

No, just disclose the time she lived here, and have the one/s from any other country she resided in 6 mths & over

Where can I find this information officially? I've seen a lot of people saying the same thing as you, but if that's the case then why wouldn't they spell it out for us on the official website??

FBI records are definitely not needed.

 

I think they don't spell it out because they simply don't require it. So why would they make a list of things you don't need?

I guess. Then what police certificates are required? From only the US city where the beneficiary lived? Or the state? I think the only way to get a "Police certificate" for the whole country would be through the FBI, right?

The only police certificates that are required are from the beneficiary's home country (assuming they live there) and police certs from any other country that the beneficiary has lived in, except the US.

 

You don't need any police records at all from the US, not from the FBI and not from any cities or states. Only from foreign countries.

Why would the UK specifically say the US is not required but the czech one doesn't? I really don't want to go through the whole visa interview down the road and end up needing to get Police certificates late in the game...

Can you not call the embassy in CZ and get a straight answer from them directly? I would try that to be 100000% sure.

 

The various Embassy websites for different countries are really all over the place. Some are regularly update and very helpful, others are totally lacking in information and you have to contact them to find things out.

No USA police certificates  (fbi or otherwise) are needed.  Please check the NVC website for clarification if you need it.
