Yes, I messed up the I-864 and had to resend.

I'm not sure about the clock thing.  I have seen the explanations of RFIE vs RFE and Reset vs restart.  I'm not sure what really goes on.  It's just that my husband is ready to get out of the house and get serious about paid work.  I saw others posted how they got notices within days of sending the SR, so I just went ahead and did it.

You have nothing to lose. I hope you'll hear smth soon :)

We're planning to send in our joint sponsor documents next week (which is probably about as fast as we can do it) and then I'm thinking about contacting our congressman not long after that to look into it. Our RFIE came on day 87, which, from what I can tell, is very unusual. There's no reason why we should have gotten something about initial information when the case was technically already outside of the normal processing time, so there's no way I have the patience to wait to see if it's a reset or a restart. I was thinking of calling USCIS about it again today but yesterday's experience tells me that would be useless unless I got to speak to a tier 2 agent.

It hasn't even updated online so if the letter had gotten lost in the mail we still wouldn't know about it.

Hi everyone

I hope you all have been good. I haven't been here in what it seems a long time (three weeks) haha. A lot of things have happened. After receiving my EAD I started applying for jobs and scheduled an appointment at the DMV. Everything went smooth with the DMV, they gave me a temporary driving permit that only allowed me to drive with an adult next to me, that is until I scheduled a practical driving test, and then I got the driver's license.

I tried to get a credit card but they told me since the SSN says "only allowed to work with DHS authorization", they cannot give me a credit card basically until I have a green card.

Yesterday after going to 3 different interviews I got a job offer and I start tomorrow.

Vacations are over so fast! Enjoy while you can!!!

Still no news about the I-485 interview. For what I've seen in the timelines of other applicants in San Diego, I should be getting an interview date around April or May.

Oh, I also forgot to add that I already used my combo card to seek parole. I went on a quick trip across the border (Tijuana) and was very nervous coming back. They literally just looked at my card for 5 seconds and let us go through. Maybe it helped that I was with my husband.

Hi there!

Thanks for this update and congratulations on your successful job interview!! About the credit card. Go somewhere else and get a secured credit card to start building your credit. I got mine at Bank of America without problems. There are more places but that was my experience. Good luck!

Did you put in a SR? I suppose no one can tell you if this helps... but it might feel better to have done something at least :) You can simply do it online (uscis e-request) and then follow the progress on the .gov case check. Good luck :)

I'm really, really hoping it's just a pause since our RFIE happened so inexplicably late in the process. It would still be frustrating if it had happened even a month ago, but the fact that it was around day 85 is a heartbreaker.

I also called USCIS today figuring I wasn't going to get much from the experience and I wasn't wrong. The woman I spoke to repeated everything I said, read an explanation of an RFE (not even an RFIE), and then gave me the websites for the DOJ and USCIS. I think anyone you'd talk to there would only give you information as it appears on the website, regardless of whether or not it's totally accurate.

I completely understand your pain! Same here! I was hoping to receive EAD within the next couple of days. Now I have to wait hopefully not longer than a month because I will probably go bananas. I'm still waiting for the RFIE to come in the mail?

So far I have yet to see anyone with an RFIE or RFE on here for either application take longer than 120 days. (Anyone on here?? correct me if I'm wrong). It looks to add a maximum of around two weeks and nothing at all at a minimum (meaning some can't even be distinguished from ppl without rfe's). SOme of this ofc depends on when the rfe was issued in the process and how long it took for it to arrive in the mail, plus the time for answering... those aren't USCIS processing additions, but ofc adds time for the applicant.

I truly believe, your wait won't be all that long... keeping fingers crossed for all of you...

I still don't even understand WHY it happened so late. Shouldn't an RFIE happen when they start working on your case? And wouldn't that mean that it had just been sitting around for almost three months before they even bothered to look at it? I'd really love to put an angry call in to someone but you can't reach a person who actually knows anything by phone (which, in this situation, is likely for the best, haha).

Likely so! :jest:
