Hello, I am very curious as to why your US Citizen Fiance's petition was sent to VSC - Vermont in the first place.

The vast majority (thousands) have gone to CSC -California

There have only been 11 cases this entire year from VJ member sent to VSC for K-1 for all of 2016.

You mentioned security check.

Did he list that he had some type of criminal record or is this just a standard FBI/police clearance check?

Thanks

Jim

Contact one of the 2 U. S. Senators from your home state. They can make an inquiry on your behalf "in the interest of the Senator" (that is the "way" they say it). Just mention that the case has been in process for much longer than the usual time for that particular processing center and they will be happy to look into the situation for you.

My case was similarly, and without any good reason, put "on hold pending the results of the security checks." I contacted my Senator's office and my Petition was approved 7 days later. I wish I had called 6 months earlier. It took a painfully long 312 days for my petition to get approved. There are on average about 35,000 K-1 Petitions filed every year. Supposedly we all get processed on a first come first served basis but I suspect some cases get put aside if they have a lot of pages, have a lot of errors, or incomplete.

I hope this was helpful

OP, it might be handy to read this too but also call the USCIS and ask what's up with your case.
