Letters of intent needs to have what state you will marry in? #######

Never noticed that before... and I traveled to the Philippines to get her WET signature. I was going thru the RFE master list here on this site and noticed that someone was RFE'd for this reason:

RFE: Request of State in which same sex couple intends to marry.

Fix: Sent in new letters of intent to marry from both including which state they intend to marry.

What the hell is that about? I am filing tomorrow on Monday - should I just change my letter of intent since I can easily do that and hope they dont notice her's just saying "The United States" Of course I meant California thats where I lived my entire life.... not sure why it matters maybe we go to Vegas.

I took one of the sample forms and cut/paste it almost word for word:

I would assume its due to same sex NOT being legal in all US states.

But that is not your case your letter is ok.

We did not put the state, just that we intend to marry within 90 days of arrival in the U.S.

She was approved in Manila on the 17th.

This should be in the case of a LGBT couple back in the day when same sex was not federally recognized. I would imagine back then putting the state would have been helpful in identifying that you were going to marry in a state where same sex was recognized at the time. You'll have no issues.

I'm glad you can spend time with your fiancee, but wet signatures have not been required on the Intent to Marry and the G-325a since 2013 when the instructions were changed.

As others have said, you don't need a state listed on the Intent to Marry.

We didnt include the state in the Letter of intent. 129f Petition Approved 07/20 and VISA Interview Approved 08/25.

I guess it is only for SAME Sex Marriage.

I'm thinking I'm being overly paranoid. The problem is when you search the forums... You get answers that are not always within the last 6 months... Some are a few years old. So when I see people beating the drums of "you need this or that" my ears perk up.

You have to utilize vj its a tool not all steps necessarily apply to you...

I run the master list and I can confirm that the RFE for this was ONLY for the same sex marriages due to the fact that, as another poster stated, same sex marriage at the time was not legal in all states. Since the federal ruling recently I don't imagine this RFE will ever be seen in the future so hurray for that!!!
