I know that feeling. It totally sucks. You just need to patient. I am positive that your case will be approved before you depart from the USA.

I leave on March 15. That’s less than a month from today.

If my ROC gets approved and the green card in production while I’m out of the country, will that invalidate the I-551 green card stamp on my passport? I’m really worried and scared coming back to the USA now. The incompetence of USCIS creates anxiety and trouble for folks like me who are dutifully following the immigration laws but are at the short end of the stick as far as the whims of USCIS are concerned!!!

Check my timeline for K-1 visa & AOS details

Conditional Permanent Resident: 16 September 2014

Conditional GC Expires: 16 September 2016

2016-Sep-20: NOA/ 1-year extension letter received in mail

Hi Guys,

My NOA date is Sept 20 2016.I havent applied for N400. My I 1551 extension is valid till January 2019.

I havent heard anything from USCIS and Im getting a bit nervous. I am actually traveling for work at the moment and there is noone at home to check my mail. And I wont be able to go home until March 10th. It is possible that I have received a RFE. Is it possible to find out if I have gotten a RFE by calling USCIS?

You can sign up for USPS informed delivery (if they have it in your area). That will email you everyday to tell you what mail has been delivered to your house, and it posts a scan of the envelope too 👍 At least then you would know if you had received a letter from USCIS.

Other than that, you can call them... I'm honestly not sure if they can tell or see either you have an RFE or not, but it would be worth calling to check. I wouldn't worry too much though. They are still working on your NOA date, and they give you 30 days to respond to an RFE, I believe?! So unless you're away for an extended amount of time, you should be fine 👍

Don’t sweat it, we were in the same boat. The only document I had that I submitted was an old cable bill from 2014 that had both our names on, a copy of my life insurance policy listing my ex as beneficiary and a 2015/2016 tax return which was the only one we filed jointly. I seriously thought I was gonna get RFE considering the cable bill and life insurance policy in particular  was the same ones I had submitted during my initial AOS. But better to provide what u have than try to fake what you don’t. In the end it paid off...

The weirdest thing happened today. I got a letter from USCIS today. The envelope is nothing special - paper is normal 8.5x11 standard paper and it was mailed from Lincoln, NE. I signed up for both text and email alerts and did not get any messages. Even when I looked up my case online, it says, it was still in the "Case was Received" status. I thought for sure it was an RFE.

However, when I opened it, it was an APPROVAL letter! Approval date was 2/13/2017. The letter did not come from CSC, rather, my local field office - is this normal?

The letter does say expect to receive my card within 60 days! I'm hoping it will be less than this and I will update the forum once I actually have it physically at hand.

Congratulations!

This is pure conjecture on my part, but I think the reason your CRI-89 number hasn't shown your card in production yet is because the approval and card production are two separate stages. For whatever reason, we cannot track the actual I-751 case online (throws out an error stating unknown/invalid case number), just the card itself. It seems like most people only find out they're approved when their card goes into production but you were able to find out before that stage which is pretty nice.

No clue why it came from your local office though. If you applied for citizenship then it would make some sense, but the removal of conditions and citizenship usually get put together. If you didn't apply for citizenship then maybe CSC is offloading to field offices...

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

Actually, you can track your case. Is giving you an error because you are using the wrong WAC number. You should have two. One is on your NOA letter and the second one is on your biometrics letter. The second one should not give you error

What I'm saying is you cannot track the number on the NOA1 (i.e. the I-751 itself) but you can track the number that is linked to the green card production (i.e. the number on your biometrics notice).
