Hey guys! Haven't added my info to the timeline yet, if someone can do it that would be great! We sent our packet on sept 12, 2016 got out NOA on September 24, 2016. We had our bio appointment on October 14, 2016. California service center. Just had our appt for our I-551 stamp. The agent told it it's taking about 15 months to process these BUT that our case is showing in his system as currently up for review and that depending on how much and what proof we sent with our packet they should either be sending the card or send a letter for us to interview at the USCIS office.

OMG Totally the same!! I was praying my case gets sent to CSC cuz it was "back then" fast.. : ( but sadly things changed dramatically.. HAha

Well, I guess there's nothin much to do about it.. :/

Oh wow, thanks alot for sharing your experience! My case is exactly the same dates as yours. I hope the officer I meet tomorrow tells me that my case is being reviewed :) that'd be great!

Hi everyone! It's great to see VSC peeps getting their cards. Congrats to all! :-)


I just went to get I-551 stamp yesterday at Chicago office. I had to wait for over an hour even though I had an "appointment." So if you are going to Chicago office, beware!

 

When I actually got to meet the officer, she asked me to take a picture and fingerprints.

I never saw anybody talking about that here so I got a little surprised, but it went quickly. 

 

But, when I actually finally got a stamp, she reduced it to 6 months, crossing "one year" part of the stamp :-/

When I asked why to her, she said "your case is already pending a year, so we don't want the stamp to be that long."

Okay...... I guess it really depends on the officer who takes it, and apparently I got an uptight officer.

When I asked her if she knew how long more it will take for the process, she said "I don't know." She didn't even want to try to look into details. Oh well!

 

Anyways, I did get a stamp so it's a good thing. 

I really hope it won't take another half year until we get the card. I am praying for the fellow CSC peeps!

They all bs-ing us around. If as of June 30th, 2017 they are processing June 20th, 2016 (and now July filers already), it means it takes 12 months. 3 months difference somehow. Moreover, they always "review" cases. Also doesn't it sound logical that they either approve or call for the interview if the packages is insufficient? Bottom line: what they say means absolutely nothing.

Thanks for posting about your experience.

 

Unfortunately, I've read a few other cases of Chicago only giving out 6-month stamps, and no cases of Chicago granting a stamp valid for a full year. Which is annoying because the Illinois driver's license expiration date is tied to the GC / extension / stamp expiration date, and you have to pay the full license fee ($30 or whatever) to get a license that is only valid for a short period of time. Aargh...

Just sharing what I was told. it's nice to hear an official encourage and attempt to give what info they can instead of telling me they don't know anything like they do at the call centers.  He gave me a glimmer of hope and at this point, i'll take it.

Oh I didn't know it was the case. Yup, Chicago is more strict than other places then apparently.

When I went to get the driver's license here, they didn't allow me to apply since my GC only had 6 months left. So that means I still can't apply for it :-/

So I am still using Tennessee license, since it's still valid (I know I am supposed to change it to the residential state license, but in this case, what can you do really?).

Hey guys, just got back from The Info Pass appointment! The wait time at the lobby was around 2 hours.. Then when my number rang up, I went to the window and the officer stamped the one year extension stamp on the passport. It took him around 15 min or so..

In the beginning after I handed him the papers, he started typing things and after few minutes I politely asked him if he sees any updates on my case and he replied: "Do you think I'm playing? or staring at the screen??"

I was like Whao whao!!! HAHAHAHA

he kept on saying that he's checking the case and doing his job.. I told him: I'm sorry, you totally misunderstood my question! LOL I just asked if there's any update on your system on the case! That's all! I didn't say " Hey you knuckle head, what do you see on the screen?" HAHA

Anyway, long story short, he explained how the process takes a year and in some cases more than a year generally speaking! Then, he told me it shows as "Pending" on his screen!

I was like: Ok, alright!

 

It was just a bizzarre and stupid interaction with this employee.. I was just like UGH I wanna get out of here!
