I worked as a bouncer for 2 years in college. I've listened to drunk people go on about all kinds of inane subjects for more than I care to remember, but I can't say that's something that's ever come up. Must be a heck of a bar you hang out at.

The fellow ran the small company that replaced a fence at my previous house. The discussion was on-site. This was some years ago, before I was involved with an international relationship or had any more knowledge of immigration issues than the average American, which as we know is usually rather little. Even if I inquired further, I don't recall what was said. Sorry.

By December the house was fully framed in, had windows and doors in place and of course the roof was complete. I asked the contractor when the brick was going to be laid. He said not until the next year. I asked him why so long. His response was that the brick layers were all Mexicans and that it is their tradition to go home for the holidays.

There were a few guys on the construction crew I worked with who saved all year and then went home for a month in the winter to visit the family and to live like kings on their earnings. I thought it was somewhat odd that they were able to come and go so easily across the border. Didn't Obama assure us the border was secure?
