Brussels - B2 Tourist Visa

Hi VJ,

Does any other Belgian citizen have experience getting their B2 tourist visa from the Brussels embassy/consulate? Did they ask to see your proof of ties, was the staff friendly, what questions were asked, etc.

In general, tourist visas are hard to get in VWP countries. If you are eligible to use the VWP, you are probably better off using it.

If you apply for a tourist visa and you're denied, you lose your VWP privileges as well.

If you are a foreign citizen not elligible for VWP, but living in Belgium, your chances are quite good to get approved, assuming you can show strong ties to Belgium, such as studying there, a hood job etc.

If you are a Belgian citizen who could have used the VWP, your chances are bad, because they will wonder why you need longer than 3 months for your holiday and how you can afford that without working illegally.

that was not my experience. I was able to get a b2 visa without many issues, just proved i have enough money to support my self and then she told me my visa was approved.

I wasn't saying it's impossible. However, if one's eligible to use the VWP, the risk of tourist visa denial has to be taken into account, because a tourist visa denial also means the end of VWP privileges.
