K-1 Proof of Meeting

Hello everyone,

I've been lurking here during mine and my fiance's own visa journey. We followed the instructions posted here on how to apply for the I-129f. My fiance is the petitioner and today she received a request for more proof of meeting. We had sent in everything we could think of. I tried calling immigration but they said they can't tell us what to submit. The problem is I threw away the boarding passes when I visited twice last year. But I do have the receipt via email, would that be accepted? Since I'm Canadian my passport isn't stamped just scanned so I can't show stamps. I've been there three times in the last year.

It also mentioned a statement of meeting. My fiance did one but should I do one as well?

Any hep would be great.

Michael.

A receipt of a trip is not true evidence you boarded the flight.

Provide more context, the RFE suggested lack of proof of meeting....what was actually submitted??

Do you have any BP, luggage tags, ferry passes, movie ticket stub, hotel receipts...pictures(hopefully some identifying time/place) or anything else actually placing you together? Luckily CAN isn't super far vs other places...seems unfortunate in 3 trips you failed to provide enough supporting proof?

Credit card statements with transactions during your visits highlighted

Bank statements with cash withdrawals during your visits

Did you provide those-what did you provie?

How about any receipts from your visits, all those are good evidence to submit

If you do not have the boarding passes, then you can only supply the receipts for them. At least it is something. Even better is showing the bank/credit card statements for the purchase of the tickets and for using ATMs and spending money there during your visits. Hotel receipts work too. Photos together in front of landmarks would be good to include too, if you have any. They do not hold a lot of weight, but affidavits from people that were with you when you were together in person could be provided as well.

What statement of meeting are they asking for? It is most likely because you did not prove you had met in person within the 2 years prior to filing. Just supply a new one, if that is what they are asking for. Include how you initially met and then when and where your meetings in person during the 2 years prior to filing took place.

I didn't think I'd be needing all this proof so I don't have receipts and took out cash when I was there. The third time I went out I drove and booked hotels through hotels.com, I had included those but they were just print outs. I'll look and see what else I can find.

Pictures of you two together are the best proof. Did you send many?

Pictures prove you met, not when and therefore cannot be used to substantiate the time line

You said you took out cash, then provide your bank statements showing the cash withdrawals

I just recently had an approved RFE for this very request of evidence.

Pictures aren't the best proof of proving one has met within the last two years. They are secondary proof per USCIS. They need dated passport entry/exit stamps, boarding passes, credit/debit card transaction receipts or statement, Lodging receipts, sworn statement from a family member are a few to choose from.

Yeah, we sent a bunch of photos with links to the Facebook posts. Ah, the digital age.

Anyway, I was having issues with my credit card e-statements but got it working. Lot's of transactions in Seattle to show them. We'll be getting a call from a tier 2 representative to help us in a few days. So we'll see how it goes.

Thanks!

Your RFE is identical to mine.

I'm the USC petitioner. I just added more detailed info to my previous statement of how we met letter, and copies of my passport exit/entry stamps(also previously submitted), and printed hotel receipts.

It really is a pain when they don't stamp your passport. You can request they do this in the future, it'll save you some hassle!

Since you don't have the boarding passes, the itinerary is good, but you have to prove you actually went, which is why the boarding passes are normally good. A super easy way to prove you followed through with your travel plans is by printing off your i-94 record https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/consent.html It records anytime you enter, so even your trip you drove will be there. Show that the dates for everything match your itineraries.

Excellent! Thanks. I did the I-94 but it only shows the two times I flew in but not the time I crossed by land at Detroit. But it shows those two times at least. I also found how to print off the hotel receipts at Hotels.com. I think I've got quite a bit now. Thanks everyone!
