Hey everybody!

I have so many questions! I just received my Package 3 from the Embassy in Frankfurt yesterday. I am filling out the DS160 Form and one question makes me nervous:

Are you a former exchange visitor (J) who has not yet fulfilled the two-year foreign residence requirement?

I returned back from my Au Pair years (plus travel month) on AUGUST 21, 2014. That's very close to be 2 years ago. Should I just wait until I send the DS160 to be able to check "no". Will they care if I send it in tomorrow, and it's 2 weeks away from that certain date? I have all the other information gathered, and it would just delay the process for another two weeks if I had to wait for that day.

I think you would feel and sleep better waiting until a day after August 21. Then you undoubtedly would be answering NO with complete honesty.

It's your choice but if I was in that situation, I would wait.

They won't care when you actually send the required documents back. I can't answer your specific question if it matters that you're close to fulfilling the 2 year requirement, but to be on the safe side I would just wait the 15 days. Better be safe than sorry. Your NOA2 is good for 4 months so it's not even close to expiring. And even if it happens to expire before the interview, the US petitioner just needs to send a new letter of intent with a wet signature to the consulate in Frankfurt (meaning no email, no .pdf printed by you, an actual letter with his actual signature on it).
