Hi!

I don't have any personal checks of my own to send in with my I-129F to pay the fee. My mother's name is on the check but we have the same last name and address. Just wondering if this matters or not, I really don't want to have to order and wait for checks of my own to come in. Is cash acceptable as well?

Thanks!

As the other poster said, no cash. You could use hers, or if you would prefer, you could get a money order. We got our money order at the post office (just keep the top portion to track when it's cashed).

Take a copy of the check before you mail it in for later proof of payment

and from this date on, copy everything you send to USCIS including all the documetns in this application

even things that you have originals of like birth certificate, make a copy of it for a file of documents sent to immigration

once, you have a case number, print in upper right hand corner that number and both DOB's of any future documents USCIS asks for

good luck to you

If you read the I-129F instructions(and you should before filling out the form), it tells you the ways in which you can pay. Yes, your mother or anyone else can write a check for the payment. It doesn't matter who the check or money order is from. It just needs to be the correct amount, made out correctly according to the instructions.
