I woulda been so pissed off if they had retained my expired GC. I know the stamp serves the same purpose as the GC but still the document is mine...

It's by law that you can't have two copies of a document which one is expired.

My priority date came and I submitted N-400 online. Now I have these 2 cases pending. Online filling seems to be much more friendly and less complicated, they should do it all like this.

How did you fill N400 online? Did you also pay online? Can you share a little bit more about your experience?

if it's really "law" then why wasn't it taken back from me? Why did she voluntarily return it? I'm sure if that was the case it would have been enforced.

So I called again to check on my I-751 and they said i’m in queue for an interview but also pending adjudication? Either the Tier-2 officer is confused or I don’t know. I haven’t received a RFE or anything.

Although I think July filers will receive their GC around August, if you want to feel better about the situation, get a infopass and ask for the passport stamp. That will make you relax for another year. In the meantime you'll receive the GC and you'll live happily ever after :)

So, I called today and was told just like other July filers that my case was under the normal processing time and currently, cases from June 13th are being reviewed in VSC, however my case is assigned to an officer and I should hopefully hear an update soon. *Fingers crossed* And all the best to all July filers! :)

I'm just confused as why the officer said I was pending adjudication and also in line for interview without RFE.. strange

Does my case need to be transferred to my local office before scheduling an interview? as of last thursday it was being under review by an officer in VSC.

It is possible that the officer decides that you don't need an interview. You'll have a response soon. Don't desperate and good luck!

Aargh! These stories of address changes not being incorporated into the system are so frustrating!!! At least you found out about it and can make sure it sticks this time.

Hi AK_2014,

I am going to file for a change of address but I am wondering which receipt number did you use? Looks like there are two receipts which is one for I-751 & CRI89. Which one should I use? Did you file it online and hard copy? I am actually worried because my ROC will hit one year this coming July 29 and I didn't have any updates on my application yet and if approval will come soon(hoping, sigh), I am worried that it might be mailed to my old address. I just move today to the new address.

Thanks for for reading and looking forward for your response.

Thank you,

Earthmoon

Hi @Earthmoon,

We haven't ever had to file a change of address during the period when a case was open, so we never had to give a receipt number. But I've heard that if you look up the regular USCIS case status website, only one of those numbers will actually work (the number that is on the Biometrics only and does not appear on the original NOA), so maybe try using that one?

Does anyone else have direct experience re: which case number to use for change in address? (see above post)

When we've notified of changes in address, we've done it online for my wife since she could, and I as the sponsor used the paper sponsor form because that's the only sponsor option.

It does seem to be a good idea to call USCIS after a couple weeks and/or stop by for an InfoPass, if you can, to make sure the new address actually got entered into the system properly.

Best of luck in your new space!

Ive seen this before: you applied for the N400, didnt you? Hence the interview: your are in queue for the N 400 interview, without any RFE pertaining to the I751. Your I 751 and the N400 files were put together and, therefore, youll have one interview for both, at your local office. That's what I think.

Good luck, and glad to see things for Vermont July Filers are moving as they should!

Yes, but I applied for the N-400 2 days ago. and my file I-751 was under officer review since a week and a half ago so I don't really understand what's going on haha

Yes, from my understanding, before a case can be scheduled for interview it gets transferred from a service center to a filed office. But will you be notified about it? It's an internal move and I don't think they will let you know. They only send you a notice when they transfer in connection with high workload. It sounds weird that you have already been scheduled for the interview because while you're under normal processing times you are in common line. When everyone starts getting their GC and you don't, that's when you can say your case is held for further review and that's when you can expect RFE or interview. They don't necessarily send you RFE before interview. Also I know that they like to say that you're scheduled for interview even if you're not. I don't know why. It's hard to understand what is really going on there. Maybe now everyone gets invited for an interview and that is why it takes so so so long.

Honestly it makes no sense at all. They are so vague when you get transferred to a tier-2 officer, some of them will really try and help but the majority will just skip the effort and take the next call.

I called on friday and she said my case was still being processed and no decision was made yet, yesterday I called again and the officer said "have you received a letter yet?" I'm like no... He's like because you're in line for an interview, but he wasnt able to tell me if a letter was actually generated for an interview or he was just assuming because once I asked whats the last status he sees, he said that is pending consideration.

So what happens inside VSC? It's a mystery...
