Hello everyone as some of you may know I've been doing research before filing for the CR-1 Process and today my wife has giving me the best news in the world I'm gonna be a dad?... Now comes the what to do part do I file for the CR-1 anyway is there anywhere on the form to put wife is expecting or do I just file and hope the process gets completed before the baby comes so many questions just when I though I had the process figured out?.

hi

congrats!

Is she in her country and are you the petitioner in the US?

the baby doesn't count until it's born, so nothing for now, the process will take around a year, so your wife won't be coming before the child's birth, and you will have to include the child as your household size on the affidavit of support at the interview

so you will need to have income for a household of 3 by the time your wife has the interview

Congrats!

As mentioned, no need to add the baby/ pregnancy for now. The baby will likely not need a visa anyway, it will be a US citizen by virtue of you being his/her dad, so you will need to do CRBA (Consular Report of Birth Abroad) to get it a US passport.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Very much depends on your US embassy- anything from a couple of weeks to several months (for example, the Dublin US embassy we went through only does CRBA appointments once a month).

Congrats... very exciting news!!!!

I just went through this and we both have partners in the same country. Unfortunately, "just being pregnant" does not speed things up. Plus, if I remember correctly you are the USC, not your child's mother. Being that you are the USC it is not a "rush" for the US, but, if you start the process right now in theory you might come to the US , but the likelihood is the baby would be born in DR, but you there with her now, so thank God you can be part of the process. My husband would have to call me through Tango to attend my prenatal appointments and the birth of our daughter.

Yea I been here for about 6 months now and I'm dreading going back to the states., but since I didn't come as a resident I don't qualify to do the process from here witch I'm disappointed with if I had known I would've applied for resident but oh well guess back to the states it is and hopefully I will be back by there sides soon although I think I'm still gonna wait a few more months before leaving..

Are your parents dominican? Im doing my DR citizenship all you need is your birth certificate apostile you can do all that by mail and the send it to any dominican consulate and they will analizarlo and give you a cedula....

I sent for a bc to NYC with the needed form then im sending to have it apostile and then im sending to my nearest consulate in Boston to have this all done...

Can you have your mother father or sibling donthat leg work for you and mail it to you?? If you have apostile you can do the rest in DR....

If not you gonna have to pay to have been in DR AFTER 30 days so take money to the airport

Congrats on your baby i went threw exactly the same process you are going threw. Still as of today my wife is not here yet and my daughter is 2 already and born abroad and I did the I130 and took 6 months at the Nebraska service center.I did the filing for my daughters birth abroad and it was very fast and she came here at 10 months and at 1 years old and i took her back to my wife. NVC took 45 days because I requested an Expedite...so if you start the process now maybe by the time your baby is about 2 to 3 months they will be here

Congratulations! (F)

I was really happy to find this topic , since your situation is/will be very similar to ours! We are planning on having a baby while living in my country and applying for my IR1-CR1 so all the fun is still ahead for us :reading: What really disappoints me is the fact that we can't use DCF even though my husband has local resident card and lives here for two years now! Just because we don't have USCIS office here in Georgia : ( But once again best of luck to you and your family and a smooth process in general, let the game begin!:dancing::rolleyes:
