Sorry guys, I really mean laundry

I'm having a problem with stain-removal in my shirts, usually food-grease stains. I pre-treat the stains with Shout, but very often the stains remain after washing. Does anyone have any sure-fire suggestions for eliminating stains?

Scott, I have used Greased Lightning on many occasions, especially when something bled onto a garment and it was dried. This might sound weird, but it does work! We live in Georgia and for the most part, this state is covered in red mud. If this stuff can get out red mud stains, it will do anything! I buy this stuff in the dollar stores (like Dollar General). IMHO it is awesome stuff!

I use this homemade recipe to get stains out

1/2 cup white vinegar

1/4 cup baking soda

2 TBS ammonia

3 cups water

Stir together and fill a labeled spray bottle. Spray soiled spots before washing.

Dawn dish liquid took out lipstick stains for me after a ton of clothes went through both the washer and dryer with a lovely shade of pink! I was amazed!

For everyday stains, I swear by Oxyclean in every load of laundry.

Good luck!

To remove food-grease stains. Set your washer in hot water and wash your clothes twice. Just use liquid soap.

I used bath soap to remove lipstick stains. It is also very effective removing blood stains. Let it set for few hours before washing.

Also, if the blood stain isn't dried, you can pour hydrogen peroxide on it and it bubbles away.

I used Watkins Degreaser to get motor oil out of my husband's kakis, and it worked! I was surprised, I figured they were doomed.

If it works on motor oil, it should work on food grease.

Another good way to get oil out of clothing is to put a small mound of baby talc over the oil, leave for a few days to a week then wash the garment. The talc will eventually soak up the oil.

Works even better if you apply right after you spill greasy food.
