Hey,

So we're expecting our NVC number any day now... What happens next? I presume I book my interview and medical and start to prepare some forms to gather down with me?

In regards to the affidavit of support what evidence is needed from my fiancée? Included we have his past 3 tax slips and also his most recent pay stubs. Should I include more? Bank statements etc?

Thanks!

Rosie

Check out the guide on the UK sub forum. It should answer all your questions and if you have more, the UK forum is embassy specific and will be the better place to post for accurate information as processes vary between the different embassies.

No don't check that because it is very out of date. The embassy changed their website so links are broken. Last Tuesday they changed their procedure for getting an interview. Read the London embassy's own instructions for K1s. https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/ Even those instructions are going to be confusing because they kept all the old info like "do Steps 1-4", but they have added the new Step 5 on May 3. And on some of the links they say bring appointment letter, which you no longer get in the mail under the new system. But you will get to print out a confirmation when you now pick your own appointment. That is what you show when you are in line outside on interview day. Follow London instructions over the generic VJ guides. Start participating in the UK Forum and getting London specific answers http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/99-united-kingdom/

Your proof of income is fine. London doesn't even require all you have mentioned, so no more needed for sure.

Before attending your medical, you do need your police certificate because the clinic wants to see it.

Thanks,

They say wait until London has your file. Get your NVC number before you start the Ds-160. Then you know it will be in London shortly.

Meanwhile make sure you have the documents in hand needed for the interview. They provide a list.

For medical you need police certificate and record of immunizations. It is super smart to get all your immunizations done prior to the medical exam of you haven't already had them as a child with proof. Saves you money and hassle later to get those signed off now. Shots--

Tdap - Tetanus/diptheria/pertussis or get DT, DTP or DtaP and it will be accepted for AOS also. The latest shot must be no longer than 10 years ago or you need a booster. If you have a record of receiving pertussis, then the Td is okay for the booster. Note: P does not stand for polio.

MMR - (if born in 1957 or later)-Mumps/measles/rubella. It's two doses in your life, but if you get the first dose, and 4 weeks haven't passed by your medical, they will waive the second dose for "insufficient time interval". If you only had one dose as a child, get a second one before the medical.

Varicella - Not routinely given in the UK . A history of having chickenpox excuses you from the shot. They take your word for it at the visa medical exam. Make sure you tell them "I had chickenpox so mark it on my sheet". They may not ask.

Influenza Required during flu season only, October 1 through March 31. make sure they mark your sheet "not flu season".

You need four passport photos for the medical exam. Can be UK size.

The embassy needs 2 which must be US size (larger than UK). They really only seem to need one, but whatever.
