My wife got an unexpected call from a USCIS officer this morning that her interview will be tomorrow in the Los Angeles office. He said that if she passes, the oath will be on June 18th. I'm very surprised at the speed of processing for military spouses. I was expecting a much longer wait than that.

My wife asked about her biometrics appointment tomorrow and the immigration officer said that he can still use the ones done from the removal of conditions and he said to go to the appointment anyways. I gotta go now to quiz my wife the rest of the evening!

I have never heard of anyone rescheduling more than once, especially after having missed the first appointment. I would recommend cutting the business trip short for the biometrics.

Thanks but curtailing business trip is not an option.

How do walk-in appts work for biometrics? Do you need to have an existing, valid appt w/notification letter & just show up with that?

You definitely need to have an appointment letter (you can't even get into most USCIS buildings without one). But there is no guarantee that the office you go to will accept you for a walk-in. I did my walk-in at a location in NYC that had a big sign saying that they were "appointment only" but no one said anything to me (three different people looked at the appointment sheet). But I have also heard about people being rejected for walk-ins. Search the forums for walk-in success stories in the city you are located in and try those offices.

New online notice posted for appt scheduled for 6/23 -- after business trip starts. Will probably be trying a walk-in appt since there's 2 weeks in which to do so.

Will post updates.

Who knew that the USG could be so efficient!?

Take proof of your flight and hotel bookings with you to increase your chances of success for an early walk-in. Maybe take a letter from the HR if your spouse travels frequently on business. I run my own consulting company and have to travel at short notice. So I did an early walk-in even though I didn't have any travel scheduled at this point. I just mentioned something about having to drive up to New York; which meant I would not have flight/train tickets. I did have proof of other travel I had done in the past (as a backup) and these showed my bookings within a couple of days of travel. I even had toll receipts for past drives between NY and MD for business and proof on my tax statements that those were business trips (yes; I am a bit crazy). But I'd rather err on the side of caution.

All they can do is turn you back. All you can do is maximize the probability that they will believe your story.

Thank you -- these are good ideas & spouse will do this.

Spouse talked to helpful individual at the 800 number on the notice. The CSR could only recommend trying an early walk-in as well although they also said that he could resubmit for a new appt. Since spouse has the time & ability, early walk-in it will be.

I do not have an access code on the NOA I-797C. There is a IOEI receipt #, TRN # & BIN # at the bottom of the page, but no access code?

That's strange. I received 2 notices from USCIS, one had instruction on how to create the online profile. There's an access code included. How many notices did you get so far?

Not much. Being lazy about it. When you live in the country for so long, civics test doesn't scare much. I should start organizing the document originals soon though.

My wife went to her interview today and she passed! The immigration officer was even impressed how fast the application was processed. He was able to squeeze her in for an oath ceremony on Saturday 18 June at the local air show. Actually, the longest part of the interview appointment was the Los Angeles USCIS staff making multiple phone calls to make it happen. I really appreciate this because I'm in the military and got orders to move next month. I'm very impressed with the great customer service in the Los Angeles office. Thank you to everyone on this forum for the support and advice!

My wife went to her interview today and she passed! The immigration officer was even impressed how fast the application was processed. He was able to squeeze her in for an oath ceremony on Saturday 18 June at the local air show. Actually, the longest part of the interview appointment was the Los Angeles USCIS staff making multiple phone calls to make it happen. I really appreciate this because I'm in the military and got orders to move next month. I'm very impressed with the great customer service in the Los Angeles office. Thank you to everyone on this forum for the support and advice!
