Good day everyone!

I'm really confused about the whole vaccination requirement for the AOS thing, once in the US. I understand, from what I've read on here that a K1 applicant is not required to have his/her vaccine during the the SLEC medical exam. Also, the main reason for having the medical exam here at SLEC anyway, is for the purpose of when the K1 fiance is already in the US, he/she can just present the medical results stating that she/he have already completed that part of the requirement for the AOS, correct? If so, once in the US, does the K1 fiance need to go through another full medical exam? and get vaccine shots? Coz from what I have read so far, even though they have their medical results with them(valid for a year), the Civil Surgeon still requires them to under go another full medical examination to sign off the requirement for the AOS. To be honest, I can't remember what shots i already had, my mom can't remember either. Any thoughts on this?

Also, since the fee that will be paid on the SLEC is already inclusive of the required shots..can a K1 applicant just come back to complete the vaccinations after the USEM interview just so she can have records of vaccine shots? since I know that there are required day intervals for every shot that will be given and it might delay the USEM interview/approval

Thanks in advance!

Let's clear up the confusion:

1. Get your required vaccinations during your medical exam at St. Lukes. They will tell you which ones you need, and they are included in the price of the medical. When you complete your medical exam, St. Lukes will give you a record of the vaccinations. The form is called a DS-3025.

2. When you adjust your status in the U.S., you don't need to see a civil surgeon. You simply include your form DS-3025 with your AOS packet.

Ok..but i understand that before you can schedule for you medical exam, you have to have your USEM interview already scheduled, right? To be able to complete all the required vaccinations, there will require you to come back in, say, a couple of days or weeks to get another shot. Obviously they won't release your medical records and send it to the USEM before then. So my question is..can i ask the SLEC to just let me complete all the required vaccination and come back after the USEM interview? Since i can refuse to have the shots on the actual day of the medical examination anyway because, again it is not required for a K1 applicant to do so. I would like to just come back and complete the vaccination and have records of it to bring with me for the AOS.

Yes, schedule your USEM interview before you go to your medical. Usually, the medical is completed on two consecutive days. St. Lukes will give you all the required vaccinations on the second day of your medical. They will give you your DS-3025 as soon as you get the vaccinations. There is no need to return to St. Lukes after that. It's much easier and cheaper to get your vaccinations at St.Lukes.

What shot do you have to go back in and get a followup for from SLEC? Whichever it is you read or heard....no there's no follow up shop.

Your research on the medical process are all mixed up. The medical is only 2 days vaccines included. Vaccines are age specific, so don't worry that you cant remember nor have records or your early vaccines. If you have findings on your xray then expect delays, otherwise 2days and you are all done. You cannot opted not to take the vaccine and come back later after the interview.'the sealed results will be released to you at the end of day 2 to bring to the interview.

None yet..but what i was referring to is when you get the shots done..i understand that there will be follow up shots that are required for a certain vaccine. For example, you get the hepa B shot, you have to get three right? so then, i know that they would give it to you on 3 separate occasions which means..you would have to come back, let's say after a few days in between shots. So..2 days of the medical exam won't suffice..correct? My question then is..if that happens, would you be allowed to just come back to the clinic without having to reschedule the USEM interview, since it would just be follow up shots anyway?

sorry if the question's getting confusing. Im confused myself with the information i have been reading on here. I appreciate all the help :)

You don't go back and get any follow up shots. You go in, get an exam, second day shots and that's it. No follow ups needed for the embassy.

With the example you given the second hep shot is recommended at 4 weeks, and the 3rd at 5 months....of course they don't expect that series to be done before the interview.

Hello everyone!

Good day. I just want to ask coz I'm a little bit worried about my medical this coming Wednesday, would it be a problem to me if I have tonsils and fever on the day of my medical? And I have 9 days prescription to take for my tonsils. Please let me know your idea about this. I'll appreciate it so much.

Hepa B (or A) is not a required vaccination. ;) (it is suggested for USC visiting the Philippines, not the other way around)

Medical is a simple process, two days, 2nd day is vaccinations. Exception being if there is a TB concern.

pls. don't make the medical exam process complicated. listen to the advices here given by different people who's been through the process. let me reiterate, medical exam is usually 7-10 days before embassy interview. it normally takes about 2 days to complete. first day is urine test for women, chest X-ray even if you are pregnant (they just use proper shielding), blood test, and physical exam. second day is vaccination and releasing of result. vaccines needed are determined by the physician based on the interview done prior to vaccination. it's good to have records of previous vaccination but if you don't have one that's ok. if they find irregularities with your chest X-ray then that will definitely delay your medical exam. SLEC will advise you what to do next regarding treatment and embassy interview. but if everything is in place, then 2 days you're done. they will give you a sealed brown envelope that only the embassy can open. as for you, they will hand you the CD chest X-ray result. And vaccination record DS-3025 which you will enclose in the AOS package once you adjust status in the US. If you adjust status more than one year since your medical, that's when you have to have another medical exam here in the US. otherwise just enclose the DS-3025. hope this will answer your question.

If your almost at the end of you prescription when you have your exam you should have no problems as you will not be contagious. A contagious diseases is what SKEC looks for. Good luck
