There was no time that the Nigerian Government did not know roughly where a good portion of them were. I would assume the same is true for US/UK if they expended the effort to find out.

If there was risk involved in rescuing them (and it sounded like there was a LOT of risk - at least to those kidnapped) then outside governments would not want to deal with it unless the Nigerians were willing to be fall guys for the inevitable casualties.

I don't think that is all there is to not taking action. Sometimes hostage rescue is impossible in a modern country with a fully equipped and trained local SWAT team and given time FBI hostage rescue backup.

The OP made it clear that the reason for not trying to rescue the 80 girls located was the high risk for both those hostages and the other larger group that they couldn't locate, as well as the danger and risk to the team that might have been sent in. I don't doubt that if a feasible way to rescue them had been found that they would not have tried.

I never said there were not protests. I said they do not prove anything. I am also not sticking up for the Nigerian government because I do not know enough about the situation on the ground to say.

I am replying to the implication that the USA knew about it and did nothing for no good reason basically.

I wonder how the right wingers would react if the USA did try a rescue either with the Nigerian government or without and many of the girls were killed.

The truth is none of really know what is going on there but I have high hopes the situation is being monitored from above and that a rescue will happen at some point.

Who said any thing about right wing protests?

The fact that people are protesting does not prove that the US government could have done a successful rescue and did not.

And the fact that some people here lump all Muslims together because a very small percentage are psychos is part of the reason so many hate the USA all over the world.

And my guess is if you were a Muslim you would not do anything for fear of being killed or worse. There are many though speaking out. Let's face it, the situation is complex and there is no easy fix, no easy way to get those girls back. I do hope the Nigerian government is doing everything they can along with our help.
