Why does NOA1 have the A#???

My friend received her NOA1 a few weeks ago, but surprisingly, there's an A# in her NOA1!!!!

I thought that the A# should be in NOA2, shouldn't it?

I've never heard of anyone have the A# in their NOA1.

Why?

Oh it is so very true-the A number is there. But I do not feel at advantage for having it.

I'm just confused about why some I-129F petition NOA1's have the A# listed, and others don't. Does this mean those that don't are somehow in a different group as far as processing goes? Or is it that those NOA1's that do list this number have been processed more "completely" before the actual NOA was drafted? It just raises a lot of questions in my mind....don't know about anyone else.

We barely realized my fiance even had one - from when he had applied for/been granted a tourist visa.

Could be that it came up in the system whether you included it or not and gets added onto the NOA1.

I wouldn't sweat it either way - not much you can do about it.

Then I presume that your fiance has never mentioned this visa approval in his G-325A form. Somehow the system failed here and the USCIS didn't catch it. Just a thought.

No - not just now. We realized it as we were filling out the I-129F, so we included the A# on the forms where it was asked for (where many others probably left it blank since they had no previously assigned A#).

If you have had a visa to enter the US in the past - your A# is going to be both on whatever document you received and what gets stapled into your passport. Easy to find if you're looking for it.

I'm not sure I understand your second questions about the G-325A. He answered all questions honestly regarding past trips into the US - dates, etc - I don't recall there being questions about past issued visas per se.

What part of the system do you think failed and how?

Having reviewed both the G-325A and the I-129F, I still have no idea what you're asking about. The G-325A doesn't ask about last visits or visa numbers. It has a box for the A#, but I think even if we didn't have that on-hand and he had one, we wouldn't be in trouble for leaving it out. The I-129F asks for the last entry into the US - so we answered it. Everything is all square - so what are your concerns?
