If you want your NJ driver's license prior to EAD, you better go soon. You have to have 60d left on your I-94, otherwise you won't get it.

Here is my experience: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/571295-recent-experiences-with-nj-drivers-license-from-foreign-european-license-road-test-yay-or-nay/

My I-94 was up on Feb 14 so I am way past that unfortunately. I didn't even bother doing it that way because I was told the license would expire as soon as the I-94 expired and then I would be back in the position I'm in now. Oh well. I've waited this long, what's another couple months right lol?

Thanks for sharing your timeline! Did your lawyer tell you to leave a ton of boxes blank? Seems fishy...

He submitted all our paperwork for us. But looking at our copies it's just two boxes that are blank. Seemingly just an oversight. Fingers crossed we get our interview quickly!

Shame. I got my license for 6 months. Should be good until EAD or GC come in.

I just read your experience. That's actually incredible. Seems that the employees at Freehold either really know what they're doing or they accidentally issued you a license for longer than allowed haha. Every other location I have read about/spoken to in NJ says that they can only issue a license with an I-94 that has a minimum of 60 days left on it for the duration of the I-94.

Guess I'll be making my way to the Freehold DMV considering it's only about 30 mins away. I obviously need to wait until my EAD but my situation is a bit peculiar and considering how many people have been told they need their GC for a license, I'd rather go somewhere with a track record of knowing about the K1.

Thank you!

They were very knowledgeable there and I actually talked to a supervisor there who said the 6 months are supposed to be standard operating procedure for K1, if all other rules (ID, I-94 etc) are met - but of course K1 are pretty rare and if you get an employee who has not processed a case like this before you may be sent packing...

Yeah, exactly and I feel like the majority are completely unaware that is "standard practice," in fact I think you may have found one of the only ones who is in the entire state haha. Anyway, thanks again!

Also, congrats! It looks like according to your timeline your EAD/AP has been approved!?

No you must go at your scheduled time or if your office allows walk ins you can go before but that's it. You should not intentionally miss your bio appt even if it's just by a couple hours people have been turned away and that can have detrimental effects on your case.

thanks I make sure I go at my schedule date . I will try to call tmorow and find out if they do walk in

Omg congratulations! I'm so happy it went that fast despite the stupid RFE! And yes that's normal, it just means your green card will trump the EAD and AP and you no longer need those documents to work and/or leave the county
