For my MOM:

January 4, 2016 - sent her petition to Chicago

January 5, 2016 - USCIS received the papers

January 7, 2016 - accepted and routed to USCIS Nebraska

February 1, 2016 - case was approved

Your mother's case got approved by USCIS super fast! Congrats!

Hi guys!!!

I became an American Citizen January 21st 2016 (so happy!!! :dancing: ) and sent the I-130 for my dear mom (patiently waiting in Bulgaria) right away the next day. Which, by the way, happened to be Friday but I just could not wait - I had it all prepared a week beforehand, and just added the Citizenship Certificate info and copy to the package! Here is her (my, our, whatever lol) timeline so far:

January 22 - Sent I-130 petition for mom to Phoenix Lockbox

January 25 - Case Priority Date

January 28 - Check cashed

February 2 - NOA1 Received in mail - case sent to Nebraska Service Center

And now we wait! I have heard and read this is the slowest center of them all , but I choose to have faith that it will all turn out quick and painless! Good luck to you all out there, and keep in touch!

Congratulations on citizenship. Good luck!

Could you give us a little bit more information about your case, whatever you`d like to share! This is such amazing news, congratulations!!! Gives everyone renewed hope since the Nebraska Center is notorious for its horribly slow processing! But what do you know, they miraculously zoomed through your documents! It was also shocking to me when I checked that my case was already approved in 27 days. Yeah, like u guys, I was so disappointed when they forwarded my Mom's paper to Nebraska as I already read that it's so slow there. So, I expected the worst from them haha. But, I just don't really have an answer as to why it was so quick though.

I wish I had taken a pic of my Mom's papers coz even though it was less than 15 papers, I compiled it neatly and in a binder with a clear plastic cover for each page. I had done that with my citizenship and it was quickly approved too. I don't really know if it helped my case or not because I really didn't do anything out of the extraordinary. I also did not expedite my Mom's papers, I was kinda thinking about it because I didn't wanna wait for like 6-11 months. I guess, I just got really lucky.

Now, hopefully NVC will be faster as well. I wanted my Mom here ASAP because my Father just died last December and no one will take care of her but me. I'll start calling the NVC next week. I'm hoping that she can already fly here next month. Gotta be positive! hehe! I'll keep U guys posted.

Hello,

My Wife is a US Citizen Applying for her Mother and Father.

I had 2 questions; first about financial support docs and second about if i am missing any documents from the list below.

1. I wanted to know if you guys(or should I) sent form I-864 with the petition? or pay-stubs and tax returns to show financial support.

I am asking this because i heard that it is better to submit financial support with the application to make the procedure faster and easier. Please advise.

Also, I have prepared the papers listed for Mother and Father please let me know if i am missing something.

Father:

1.Form I-130

2.Marriage certificate(Beneficiary)

3.Birth certificate (Petitioner)

4.Birth certificate (Beneficiary)

5.Copy of Certificate of naturalization(Petitioner)

6.Copy of US Passport (Petitioner)

7.Copy of Name change letter (Petitioner)

Mother:

1.form I-130

2.Marriage certificate(Beneficiary)

3.Birth certificate (Petitioner)

4.Birth certificate (Beneficiary)

5.Copy of Certificate of naturalization(Petitioner)

6.Copy of US Passport (Petitioner)

7.Copy of Name change letter (Petitioner)

Thanks in Advance,

Thank you for your reply, gwapa!

I was looking for a little more information and saw you and your mom are from the Philippines. That`s why your case was approved so quickly. For some interesting reason the Philippines seem to get preference before other countries, I have read and seen similar quick approvals on here. One month is still pretty miraculous, so let`s hope Nebraska has started working on more recent applications. It is unforgivable that the USCIS Centers` timelines are not updated online more often - the last update was in November 2015 for goodness` sake!!! Over two months ago!

I am happy you are blessed to be able to take care of your mother, the way she took care of you, I feel the same! I also am like you, trying to neatly package everything, checklists, paper clips, going through it all a few times, everything`s gotta be perfect... So we`ll see how long it takes them to go through six and a half documents haha! :clock:

How about you guys, all the other January filers, you want to tell us your stories? Let`s try to learn a little bit more about each other so the immigration journey would feel a little less lonely! Post on here whatever you`d like to share! :secret:

Hi TK! Welcome to the January filers, even though you`d be technically a February filer. We could rename this topic 2016 Winter filers and include everyone till the end of March lol

On to your questions. No, you do not include any financial information in your I-130 petition. I don`t know where you read it would expedite it, but it is not true. At this stage the needed evidence is to prove eligibility of the Petitioner - that they are a US Citizen, and eligibility of the Beneficiary - that they are the actual parents. For now, that`s all. Once this is established and approved, you get a notice called NOA2 and the case is transferred to the National Visa Center. Only after the two fees for the AOS and IV packages have been paid online, do you prepare and send your I-864 together with a bunch of other documents. Check out this link with detailed information:

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

From your list of documents what I see missing is

the two checks you need to write to USCIS for $420 each

certified English translations of any documents not in English

possibly marriage certificate for Petitioner - if it changed her last name to your last name, it is good to include (I had two changes to my name so to show the transition I had to include both marriage certificate and name change court document)

cover letter - good to include - on top of the documents describing what documents are in the package

The documents also do NOT need to be originals or certified in any way, just photocopies. But I-130 must be signed with wet signature (original) by the Petitioner, not you, the husband. You send both petitions together in one package but try to keep them neatly separated and organized for each parent so they are easier to handle. That`s it! Good luck and keep fingers crossed for quick approval! And keep in touch!

There could be 2 reasons. 1. Philippines was a former US colony and they get preference. 2. The ISO who adjudicates could be a Filipino.

I have seen so many cases wherein their petitions get approved under a month. Is this fair for the others, definitely NOT. But this is life.

I am happy for that person coz of his situation even though he didn't expedite it BUT in all fairness 4-6 months for adjudicating a simple I-130 is simply ridiculous. Lets just hope things change for better for other petitioners. Welcome to USCIS!!!

Update:

Just cause I got excited, I called NVC today and ask about my case, the lady told me me to call after 35 days once I received the letter from USCIS. Now, it's not gonna be pure luck coz I really have to wait haha. I'm hoping for a March interview for my Mom. Hopefully she will get here by April. Time for a good weather. :)
