Hey edpa = how was ur interview experience, what sorts of things did u take with you and what things were you asked.

Hello!

We arrived there an hour early, and we were taken in at our appointment time. The lady was very friendly, she swore us in, and we sat down.

She first asked if we wanted to include anything else to support our application. I took out the binder and gave her: checking account statement with both names on it, savings account statement with both names on it, lease with both names on it, travel tickets we had together, utility bills, and family plan for T-Mobile. She also took the copy of my passport that I had on me. She asked my husband what his full name is, his date of birth, and the day we got married. She went through and asked him all the questions on the 485 again - asked if he ever had any other status in the US besides tourist/business visa (no he hasn't). She verified he was discharged from his mandatory military services in Turkey. Then she asked to look through pictures we brought, she asked to tell us how we met, and then gave us back the binder. She said she's going to give us a "Notice of Interview Results" paper, and that we would receive a notice once they have a decision. She talked about how the greencard would come in 3-4 weeks and if it doesn't we should make an infopass. Other than that, the whole process took less than 15 mins. There was nothing else she asked...

Monday morning we checked the status online, and the I485/I130 were set to APPROVED! So happy :dancing:

Documents we brought with us:

Our Original Passports

Our Driver's Licenses

Original/Copy of Marriage Certificate

Original/Copy of my Birth Certificate

His Birth Certificate (From Turkish Consulate, notarized & translated)

Copies of our passport picture pages

My SSN Card (he didn't get one yet, we received the EAD card the same day as the interview)

His Military Discharge paperwork for mandatory military service & translation

Our joint checking account statement

Our joint savings account statement

My insurance information with him listed as my spouse

Our joint lease

My current employment letter + all pay stubs

Utility bills

Our T-Mobile family plan information

Tickets & boarding passes from our travels together

Joint Costco Membership documentation

Correspondence that was sent to both of us at our apartment

Over 50+ photos of our wedding, our time together over the last year (lots of photos with family & friends)

Thank you! I read somewhere to try to bring as many originals as you can (but I really think it should be fine, as long as you have original passports/drivers license/marriage license). For our situation, they didn't ask to see our birth certificates at all. She only took the copy of my passport picture page I had. She did check original passports and driver's licenses... hope this helps! :) Good luck!

Thank's for your reply, it's really helpful. The only origin copy we probably couldn't get is my spouse's birth certificate. But really glad your interview went smoothly. Have fun on your new journey!

Passport supersedes everything, also birth certificate copy if you have that. My husband was able to get a limited 6-month driver's license with his I-94 expiration as the expiration date so that's why we had that.

Also, if you're going to the downtown LA office, there's a parking garage across the street. It's 16$ maximum, but I would just park there if I were you. It was quite simple from there.

Hey guys! I am not sure why this is, but my AOS processing has been.somewhat crazy..

I applied for AOS on January 19, and received my NOA on January 26. Unlike most of you guys though, I did not receive my biometrics appointment. I called the customer service on February 20, they told me to wait a while (until the 30-day mark after NOA). But on February 26, my status changed from "Case was received" to "Request for Initial Evidence mailed". I thought that was probably what stalled the process and the reason I did not get my biometrics letter.

Now it is April, and my RFIE was received over a month ago, but still no biometrics letter.

I called the customer service, they put in a service request. Now, on April 13, I got an email from USCIS saying that they HAD MAILED MY BIOMETRICS LETTER ON JANUARY 30! I received nothing!! And they said the letter was NOT marked as non-deliverable. My only guess is USPS failed to deliver my letter or delivered it to someone else...

USCIS said they are rescheduling my biometrics appointment for me. Additionally, I just saw my EAD and AP status changed to "Approved", so I am getting my work permit and travel permit soon!

Crazy.

About a week after approval. I was approved on April 1st, and my card arrived in the mail April 8th. Once you get the message that it has been mailed out, its priority 2 day mail so it'll come 2 days after. Tracking number is usually provided so once it says it has been mailed out, call USCIS and get the tracking number if it doesn't get updated on your case status online.
