I really want my hubby to quit smoking.... our car reaks of smoke and always as ash all over the dash etc... I usually get a headache when I am in the car ......and he always comes home smelling like smoke..... he doesn't smoke in the house, thank goodness....

Anywho, hubby says the only way he will quit smoking is if starts chewing that Nicorette Gum... I was just wondering if it actually works and what does it taste like etc....

I am the one who smokes and he hates it. I told him I will quit if we can get a house with a pool lol. All the kids thought it was a great deal!

For me the one thing that really works is the patch. The gum did nothing for me.

I am going to quit again....soon...ish.

I smoked for 20 years, I went to my doctor and told him that I tried the Gum The Patch and they do not work. He gave me welbutren xl. I took the pill for 3 months and I have not had a smoke for 11 months now.

my hubby smokes... its the one thing he told me about up front when we first got serious... that he wouldnt quit unless HE wanted to and that i couldnt ask him to...

hes a big boy... he knows what it does to him... he smokes a lot less than he did in holland... and hes very considerate by always going outside, never smoking around me or my daughter, washing his hands and brushing his teeth after a smoke... i love him dearly for it

i can still smell it tho, even with all he does... and sometimes it affects me more than others... there are times when i dont even tell him about what it does... i dont want to lay guilt on him either... i worry sometimes about all that we had to go thru to get him here to be together... and i think of what life would be like if i lost him too early over something that would be a result of the smoking... but, i just think of how lucky i am to have ever known him... that he is with me now... and that we are so happy...

i love him with all my heart... every part of him... good, bad and WONDERFUL

(since he reads and posts here... dont be mad at me for posting this, baby)

realistically, the only way he will quit is when he wants to quit for himself. if he quits now because you want him to, he will resent it and eventually go back to smoking. i am sure he is well aware of the future health risks involved if he continues to smoke ... that's his choice.

it was also your choice to marry someone who smokes. it's great that he doesn't smoke in the house, maybe you can get him to take a shower once he gets home to rid himself of the stench. good luck!

no idea... I am trying right now with filters and a special blend of "herbs."

Most people refer to that as pot.

I didn't know that ginseng and apple cider extract was pot

I tried everything and finally stopped when going on Wellbutrin. I also wanted to quit and had my mind set to it also. I gained weight also so which is healthier....my extra weight or my smoking?

he does take a shower when he comes home and brushes his teeth but I can still smell it even after that ... our place is small so the smell carries anyways....

I don't want to force him to quit smoking but it is affecting me too... I get really bad headaches and feel sick from the smell of smoke and like I said the car reeks of smoke....

I didn't know I was marrying a smoker  .... he never smoked on his visits to see me..... he usually only smoked at work....

he didn't smoke for the first month I was here but then one weekend he spent some time around his dad and aunt who both smoke and then he started again, I guess .... both his brothers smoke too ...

if anything I just want him to quit smoking in the car.... I have asked him not to

He should try to quit. I talked to a woman today whose husband, after retiring just a couple of months ago, was told that he has about six months to live, he has terminal lung cancer from smoking!

My Jonnie quit smoking for me just a few weeks after we first met. I didn't ask him to, he wanted it himself because he didn't want his girl to "kiss an ashtray". I am so proud of him! (L)

I guess, really wanting to quit is the key, what way you do it, what you use for it is secondary. Though I have to say that all people I know who quit successfully did it by going cold-turkey and just stopped smoking. The people that used Nicorette or other aids all relapsed after a while. But I guess those people didn't really REALLY want to quit in the first place.
