Hello All my fellow VJ members,

Hope all of you are doing well today.

My name is Mohamad Hoballah,I am a Lebanese Citizen, and me and my fiancee have applied for a fiance Visa. The process went relatively smooth from the time we submitted the original petition (took around 3 months for the case to arrive at the embassy in Beirut). After gathering all the information required for the interview, I notified the embassy and they did with me the Visa interview on the 24th of November. I was put under administrative processing because my fiancee didn't meet the financial requirements (her salary at that time was under the minimum amount required) since she moved back to the US relatively recently and didn't find a proper job at that time, so they asked me for a joint sponsorship, which her brother provided for me, and I submitted the additional required documents to the embassy on the 2nd of December. My fiancee since that time has found a better paying job (much higher that the poverity guidelines) but we did not put forward this information yet. The interview was brief, and it seemed for me that everything went well except the financial part. But now, its been 5 weeks since I submitted the additional required documents, and my status has not changed (still under "administrative processing" on the CEAC website).
I would like to humbly ask you for guidance on this matter, as it is really confusing for me and nerve wracking as well, I am trying my best to be patient, but the idea of not knowing what to do is making me worry about it. Your help and feeback would be much appreciate it.
Mohamad.

You have to remember that Christmas and the Western New Year is during that time, and many embassy staff will have gone home for it, so delays are to be expected. That being said, it has been over a month, so you could try calling the embassy (your US fiance may have better luck) for an update.

There are 2 types of AP, you may have switched from one to the other.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

That might be possible, because they updated the case on CEAC website the first time on the 4th of December and then again on the 18th of December, but I am not really sure, because they also update it when they take a look into the case. Anyways, I am doing some research about it online and what i found out is that usually the petitioner or the benificiary can ask about the case after 60 days of the interview or when additional documents have been submitted, so for me that would be the 2nd of Feb. In any case thank you for your feedback, much appreciated. Will keep you guys posted.

keep a log of the dates in the ceac web portal, even it still has 'AP' as status - when the dates change, somethings going on...

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

yea i am keeping track of when they update the date on the CEAC website. The thing is I already sent the embassy two emails to check for the status of the application, one was on the 4th of December and the other was on the 28th, last tuesday, and on both occasions the reply was an automatic email that they usually send, that displays different answers for different circumstances, basically the auto-reply and didn't get anywhere with it. So I am considering calling them by early next week. I think that's the best way to go with this.

Hi,

Calling the embassy will not help, they wont give you any answers all what they will say is to email them. Let your fiancee email them and ask about the status. If you are in AP as security wise, there's nothing you can do, just waiting.

The immigration process caused me PTSD.

So they just called me from the embassy and they told me to come on Wednesday to pick up a letter from the Consulate office, but they did not mention what the letter was about. Anyone knows what this means? Please i need your help guys. I checked the status on the CEAC website and still there wasn't any change on it.

Well, it is not great, because they didn't tell you to pick up your passport with visa. Still, at least it means something is happening, and they are processing your case.

Most likely the letter will ask for additional information; this could be anything from a list of people and contact info of neighbours and family, over more photos, orver a statement why you did or did not do something, over getting a new/ different birth certificate etc.

My passport is still wtih me, They didn't tell me to leave it last time. Might be possible that they do require additional information/papers to be submitted, because my CEAC status is still unchanged. I guess I have to wait impatiently untli wednesday to come to find out what the letter is about. Thank you again for your input.
