Ask to speak to a supervisor at SS If you entered on a k1 visa you do not need a green card to get a SS card.

Print the document in the SSN section of the Guides. Bring that to the SSA office and present it to a supervisor. You were misinformed.

This is basically correct, but you need at least two weeks validity othe I94 to apply.

I think you will need to wait till you get your work authorization, then you can apply for one.
