That' not unusual given Yemen doesn't have real good records. AP can last weeks to months to years.

a big factor in ap is how common the name is. if it is a very common name or doesn't use unique last name ie mohammed ali, then it will take longer. that's because they need to go through every other person in the database with the same or similar name and basically determine that they are not you.
also the database files are not centrally located. they are in different cities so they need to be transferred from one agency to the other after processing (i believe this was the case a few years ago not sure about now). http://lawandborder.com/administrative-processing-black-hole-visa-applicants/
basically there is no limit to the amount of time it could take, i have heard some people from mena waiting 7 months or even years. but if it takes longer than 6 months i would start to get some legal help or a senator involved.
