It's not unheard of, but it's not super common. I wouldn't worry about it too much. As long as it gets there it's all good :D

I called and they said to come in anyways. I guess it does make a difference. One is for EAD and one is for AOS. But they also said sometimes they do make clerical errors and re-send appointments. So if anyone gets a second biometric letter with the SAME TYPE (check upper left corner of 797C form), then you don't have to come in. :-)

03/06/2015: SO came in on B2 Visa (expired 12/05/2015)

08/21/2015: Married in Los Angeles, CA

12/05/2015: Sent I-130, I-485, I-131, I-765 to Chicago, IL

12/13/2015: NOA1 for I-130, I-485, I-131, I-765

01/04/2016: Biometrics for AOS *completed*

01/28/2016: Biometrics for EAD/AP *completed*

02/19/2016: I-765 - EAD Card in Production

02/24/2016: I-765 - EAD Card Was Mailed

02/26/2016: I-765 - EAD Card Received

03/10/2016: I-485 Interview

05/11/2016: I-485 Approved, I-130 Approved

I called USCIS yesterday to check if there's any problem with the biometrics appointment letter. I told them it's been a month since my case was received. They gathered some information from me and gave me a reference number. They told me that I should expect a call from Dallas office about my biometrics appointment letter. (Dallas is where we live).

Boo - sorry to hear of the RFE. Was that on your GC? I suppose we will call today for our petition. We are in Dallas too and when I scheduled an InfoPass, the only time that was available was very early in the morning January 29! So I am really hoping that his name change is done by then, because I would hate to wait several more weeks! Keep us posted; I think they will still give you a biometric appointment because they need that to move forward, but things can halt on an RFE. If Dallas is booked, they might use that as an excuse to push your date back farther. I'm wondering if we are going to have a February biometric date too!

Yes iit was for AOS. Since the biometrics were not taken, I don't assume anything will happen for EAD or AP.

how did you get an infopass? What are the conditions to be able to get one ?

I used the "Make an Appointment" link on the front page of the USCIS site. I don't think there are any conditions, but I'm sure it's more convenient to call into the line whenever you need something easy attended to. (http://www.uscis.gov/news/fact-sheets/your-guide-infopass)

We put in a service request just now too. We shall see what happens. At first, the rep was suggesting that we wait 30 days from our "Fingerprint receipt" date, but then agreed to submit a service request for us. He was helpful and I'm glad we have a nudge in the process now!

Btw, were we supposed to send the birth certificate copy for the affidavit of support? I am petitioning for my husband and no co-sponsor, and I sent a copy of my birth certificate and biometric page of my US passport during the K-1 petition, but do we need it for this step too?

Just an update for anyone that may benefit. Our service request was received, assigned, attended, and completed all today! The case history (which you get if you log onto your myUSCIS account) says that a response was sent today. I don't know if this was a biometric letter or not, but we didn't get any email or text on this action. Our case message hasn't changed; no RFE....yet... However, I am going to view this as positive movement for our case! Someone touched it!

Let's wait and see.

Hey guys! I'm new to this forum! I am currently filing an AOS application.I am currently in the US on a F1 visa. Me and my husband filed my AOS paperwork end of December. The application package included I-130, I-485 & I-765. The package got delivered on the 30th Of Dec. I have still not received any NOAs. We have not received email, text or even the hard copy NOA. I have been going over the timelines on this website and it looks like mine is taking excruciatingly long :( . I am getting very worried at this point. Its been 3 weeks and I haven't heard anything back from the USCIS. At first I assumed the delay was because of the holidays but now that its been 3 weeks and not a peep from USCIS, I am really starting to worry. Is anybody else on a similar timeline or in a similar situation? It would be very helpful to know that I am not alone in this. Oh, also I got a notification saying that my checks were cashed a week ago, so I thought there was a ray of hope there for a bit but its been 1 week exactly since they cashed the checks and I still haven't even received an initial NOA, forget the snail mail one. Here is my timeline.

AOS timeline:

12/29/2015: Application sent to Chicago Lockbox

12/30/2015: Application delivered at Chicago Lockbox

01/14/2016: Checks cashed

Please advise guys! I am really worried at this point.

Thank you

Welcome, pipa!! It does seem a long time to be waiting! To me, you are at the 14th business day. I have seen that cases either get their NOA by five business days or ten business days. If you don't get anything this week, try calling USCIS. We called and the agent looked up our case with my husband's A-number, but he couldn't see anything. That night, we received the texts. So even if you don't get results on your phone call, that's not the end. It will come, but calling at least helps you cope with the wait!

Thanks Amhara! I am planning on giving them a call this week to find out whats going on. I think that will definitely help with the anxiety of waiting for soooo long :( !

Babushka: Congrats. Hoping for the same speed

R&C: If you married on or before Dec 31 then your status for 2015 is married. I used Turbo Tax and when I entered and filed as married I saved a bunch of money in lower taxes because the married filing jointly bracket taxes are lower. Buy a version of Turbo Tax and the program does all the work for you and chooses the best class to file under.

To file as married your spouse will need a Social Security number. We filed for my wife's a few days after my wife arrived in the US. If you waited you may have difficulty getting it and that may impact when you file your taxes. Good Luck.
