There's no more "anti-islam" any more than there's "anti-anything-else".

When was the last time someone held a contest to make fun of your religious figure? Or when has armed people showed up at your place of worship to protest your religion?

I'm asking because I haven't heard of this happening here in the US.

Becuse no one ever has ever made fun of other religions

Didn't say that, just asking for clarification. If the GOP is asking for nation wide registration of Jewish people, or saying they wouldn't elect one into office then I would say someone post the links.

This is just one lil quote out of just the first link.

The 2014 calendar year was marked by several violent episodes – most notably, the shooting attack at two Jewish institutional buildings in Overland Park, Kansas carried out by a white supremacist who admitted in a jailhouse interview that he wanted to target and kill Jews. It was the first time a Jewish institution has been singled out by a lone-wolf-style gunman since the 2009 shooting at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.

Not really since I asked about an entire voting party asking for your registration or one of the presidential hopefuls saying he wouldn't put a Jewish person in office.

No one is arguing Jewish don't get targeted. Just saying you don't own the oppressed members badge. There's no reason we can't show empathy for any group that goes through this type of thing.

Unlike you and some others who share your way of seeing things, I don't TRY to "prove" that I'm "oppressed" quite the contrary - I try to ignore it and let it be what it is and be me and not try to shove it in people's face all the time. Yes, there are problems - against EVERYONE and everything and that was my point. And it's not only in the US it's everywhere in the world and that is just life. Does that mean we should just accept it no, but having tunnel vision and not realizing that the same thing applies to Jews, or to the gay community, or on the other end of the spectrum by some people towards conservatives, etc etc, I'm not even talking just people or race, some people are anti religion, some people are anti freedom, and some people are anti christmas trees...it doesn't matter, and that is my point, not everything is just "anti-islam"...there's plenty of anti out there that has nothing to do with islam.

I wasn't even talking about or going to bring Jewish people into this until your question about shootings or making fun of a religion. It's not just about religion or race and it's not a competition. You may think that the way to fight it is by bringing it up all the time but I simply disagree because bringing it up or talking about it doesn't change anything because most of us already know it exists. The best way to fight it and that is what Jews have been doing for many years is to give people a reason to not feel that way about them. Show them who you are, contribute, give them all the reasons you think there are to like you, and they will. Shoving problems in their face will do nothing but annoy them.

I can't ignore things that people are going through, not when I know it could easily be me on the other end as well. But that's the way you choose to look at it, so I can't argue your choice of dealing with it.

As far as that goes I personally think you're misinterpreting what was said and taking it the way you want to take it so there's really nothing for me to compare it to as I disagree with the premise to start with.

Personally, I couldn't care less what religion or race someone is. If there was a Muslim that had the same views as me on most things, closer than anyone else who was running, I'd vote for them without a second thought.

I think I read what you said clearly, just using it as an example of what's going on right now.

When a person is running for office and purposely trying to stir up fear and discord with a certain group of people, that's wrong on every level. You said you choose to ignore it and give them a reason not to. Nothing wrong with that. As I said earlier, I tend to have people approach me before I even say a word and start a debate about black people or Islam based on their perception that since I have dark skin, I must be able to speak for everyone that looks like me.

When it became public knowledge I was fasting years ago, every time something happened with Islam my office got rushed with people asking questions. When Ferguson went down, at least 3 times a day I had to explain things to co workers and even strangers who just had to ask my opinion if I was standing next to them. If I can enlighten someone and they take that with them, I'm good with that. If not, oh well.

No what I meant was you were misinterpreting what was said on those issues(registration, muslim pres) - not what I said. I don't choose to ignore specifically that - I just think the best way to prove yourself and to change people's perceptions of you is be yourself and give them a positive reason to. Not to bring up the bad stuff. Like I said that's not to say it should be accepted. Just a different approach on dealing with things or view on tackling things I guess. I'd rather change minds from a positive angle than a negative one I find that it works better.

People tend to ask questions(I get that too, say, on things going down in Israel, or on Jewish holidays etc) not because they think you speak for everyone but you're the closest thing they have to "the source". So your opinion is better than nothing. Take it as a compliment.

You will never change some. No matter what you do.

But you're not really "doing all that". Just being yourself. I mean that shouldn't be hard to do.
