I was told that some sort of summit, or meeting, is going on that will cause all embassies to close down so no visa processes (Philippines is my bit) will happen? Is this true? Hard enough we got government places closing for Thanksgiving and Christmas (although some of us get forced time off without pay for one or two days, they will probably take a full paid week). I tried looking this up but ended up in tabloid websites.

Can anyone confirm this info?

Thanks.

Who told you that? You didn't give a timeframe or how long or anything.

Not really sure what mentioning holidays off was for...they should have holidays off....with pay. They do live in a completely different country away from all their family and friends...many in not so friendly or nice places.

That is all the information I got from my fiance. She says that it is common that during APEC summits, all embassies are closed. So the one in California looking into our case will have some extra days (I do not know how many) off.

When I say things like paid time off, I just vent how other people can still have real jobs getting holidays off when I can not. Just a vent. Ya, irrelevant for my question in hand.

Maybe she is mistaken then but she told me this same info last year when I was starting to prep stuff (last winter) for filing purposes.

Saying all November slots closed.

Nationally recognized government holidays...are expected. not sure how getting upset about timing those helps nor changes anything. Thanksgiving / Xmas happen each and every year. Your K1 timeline says you only just filed recently. Embassy not involved yet anyways. Maybe slight hiccup due to holidays. is what it is.

I feel ya. Everyone should get paid holidays off. And vacation time every year. I'll see what I can find about a summit...

Apparently, people's cases sent to Manila during November are not going to happen because of this summit. That is what I have been trying to find. For example, so if our case is going to be sent to Manila this month, not going to hear of anything happening until next month.

yes, there will be an apec what so ever they gonna call it, it is like gathering of leaders all over the world, I'm not sure so due to this government offices are closed like for weeks, again I'm not sure, that's why my fiance will have his CFO on dec. 3 cause for the two weeks left in nov they are close .. I'm not sure if the embassy is open, but I'm guessing it will be close too, it will be for safety, I don't know but that's what my fiance says.

Nope-- just Manila and just for the 2 days of the summit. Manila is the host city for the summit and I guess they've got security or logistic concerns or the embassy staff are needed to staff the summit. Not sure. I'm betting it's security and logistics though. That's life. The Pope came to town here in DC a few months ago and everything pretty much stopped for 2 days. These things happen.

You don't get mail on Sundays and you can't renew a driver's licence on Thanksgiving. Government (and private) offices close on major holidays. Even my retail job will be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas (not paid, obviously).... so you won't be able to buy high-end kitchenware on those days, either. That's.... normal.

That is all the information I got from my fiance. She says that it is common that during APEC summits, all embassies are closed. So the one in California looking into our case will have some extra days (I do not know how many) off.

Absolutely not. One, that office in California isn't an embassy. It is a USCIS service center (USCIS is part of the Department of Homeland Security. Embassies are the Department of State and are located in foreign countries, and are the second step in the process). Two, why would they need to take time off because of a summit that has nothing to do with them taking place 7,000 miles away?

Apparently, people's cases sent to Manila during November are not going to happen because of this summit. That is what I have been trying to find. For example, so if our case is going to be sent to Manila this month, not going to hear of anything happening until next month.

That's the normal timeframe anyway. 2 weeks from NVC sending to Packet 3. Look at the flowchart. You are talking about Step 6 through 8: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

You are also currently ON Step 4, so seriously this will do nothing to you. And even if it did-- it's two days. Which is literally nothing in the world of immigration timelines.

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3
29 Jul 2016: Online service request for late EAD (Day 104)
29 Jul 2016: EAD/AP Approved ~3 hours after online service request
04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

14 Feb 2015: Mailed I-129f to Dallas Lockbox. (L) (Most expensive Valentine's card I've ever sent!)

17 Feb 2015: NOA1 "Received Date"
19 Feb 2015: NOA1 Notice Date
08 Aug 2015: NOA2 email! :luv: (173 days from NOA1)

17 Aug 2015: Sent to NVC

?? Aug 2015: Arrived at NVC

25 Aug 2015: NVC Case # Assigned

31 Aug 2015: Left NVC for Consulate in San Jose

09 Sep 2015: Consulate received :dancing: (32 days from NOA2)

11 Sep 2015: Packet 3 emailed from embassy to me, the petitioner (34 days from NOA2).

18 Sep 2015: Medicals complete

21 Sep 2015: Packet 3 complete, my boss puts a temporary moratorium on all time off due to work emergency :clock:

02 Oct 2015: Work emergency clears up, interview scheduled (soonest available was 5 business days away--Columbus Day was in there)

13 Oct 2015: Interview

13 Oct 2015: VISA APPROVED  (236 days from NOA1)

19 Oct 2015: Visa-in-hand

You have nothing to worry about since you're not at the embassy stage yet nor will you be during the summit.
