Hello everyone :) My fiancé Irina and I sent out our K1 Visa application on the 27th of last month. Right now it is being processed at the California Visa Center. Irina and I communicate on Facebook for many hours every day since we started talking on September of 2014. For "Proof of Communication" I saved every message we send on a SanDisk and I told them that is where they should look to see proof of our communication. There are over 5000 pages so it's impossible to print every page. We both speak Russian and English so I didn't want to translate every page. Today I got a mail from USCIS with my SanDisk. The letter said that they returned the SanDisk to me because it is a format that they cannot place in my file folder for review by an officer during the adjudication process...I'm very confused. Do I need to print out pages of our Facebook conversations and send it to them again? Does this ruin our hopes of getting approved? Please help.

Use like 50 pages, few samples from each month

as for the scandisck, it does make sense

1. It cannot be scanned, two whole punched ( the content can but not the actual disk, therefore its cannot become a part of the file)

2. security risk

old fashion paper works the best!

good luck!@

Online chat logs are pretty weak evidence and are easily faked. They're secondary evidence at best. 5000 is definitely a magnitude too much - just a selection would have been fine.

Actually number 2 is number 1. No need to add anything else. No external storage devices are authorized to be used on a government computer, end of that story. Never mind coming from a member of the public, huge risk.

58 more than we did.

I agree.

I believe the reason why the OP notarized the Facebook convos before sending them to USCIS was mainly because they were not originally in English and they had to be translated so using a notary translator in these situations is usually a better option.

Although getting a notary translator is not necessary(like getting witness affidavits notarized) and neither are professional translators...just as long as it is someone who is accurate in translating and is neither of the two (petitioner or beneficiary) will do.

Alex&Irin All the best!
