With still no case updates since November 27th, and still no acknowledgement that the RFE they wanted has been received by the USCIS office when I sent it last December, I called USCIS earlier this week. The lady was nice enough, but same old response - can't give me any specific information, can't tell me if my RFE has been received, can't even tell me if my case is even at the Tampa office or not. I was then told to "wait 22 days" and if I've not heard anything by then, to call back. Seeing as this approx. the 5th time I've called USCIS with similar responses, I don't see how anything will be different this time.

If they'd confirmed receipt of the RFE (which has been confirmed delivered to them by USPS), and/ or updated my status to "ready to schedule interview" then fine, I'd exercise a bit more patience. However, with it coming up to 6 months since the last update on my case, not knowing where the RFE I sent back actually is, and then seeing people filing months later getting updates and/ or interviews/ green cards, I feel I have been more than patient.

Thus I have taken the decision to contact my local Congressman and see if that may nudge my case along at all. I didn't want to do this as I feel it might be "jumping the queue" (I know there's a few October filers still waiting, and also others from way back last year), but with my case status still showing "we will not begin working on your case until we receive the requested evidence" (on November 27th) it seems that nothing has happened on my case in nearly 6 months, and probably, according to the update, they haven't even started working on it. Nearly everyone else gets SOME form of update when submitting an RFE, plus next month my medical will expire just to add to the dilemma.

Hoping that invoking my congressman may trigger some form of update.

My case hasn't been updated since November 27 too. It's still in "case was received" status. I've tried calling USCIS, but they basically told me that I can't submit an inquiry for my case being outside processing time because it's too early... So I totally understand your frustration! Keep us updated on how it goes with the congressman!

Good luck Chas, it's more or less the same runaround for me. He's not as concerned as I am, because he's focused on applying for work, but I'm almost certain we'll end up needing a new medical.. and we'll have to budget accordingly.

Not much i can say on the other stuff except i yhink you're right to go to Congressman at this point since you have not even got updates. just to hopefully ease your minds on the medical aspect my medical was the 5th Dec 2014, we filed nov 2015, my interview was April 2016 and I did not require, get asked or no mention of a new medical at all. I was worried about it too because the interview for said an i-693 (or what ever it was) medical form if not already submitted the only one I had submitted was with K1

Well, like ChasUno, we have also had no updates since November last year although at least ours does say that the RFE response has been received. I was finally able to submit a service request on Monday and we'll see what happens from there. It looks like the Florida offices are very far behind their targeted processing time. We filed in late October and our receipt date, according to the agent I spoke to is November 2nd last year so it's over six months now. I'll keep you updated. We haven't bothered with our Congressman as he was as useless as D-cups on a tiny nun when we were stuck at TSC. Hopefully we hear something soon. Unfortunately the medical will now have expired so we should probably expect another RFE and further expenses related to it. I wish they would take the filing date when considering the validity of the medical rather than the date they get their a$$es around to picking up the application.

OK, so I was heading out for a walk and checked the mailbox on my way out and there was a letter from USCIS. My heart was pounding as I opened it, expecting another RFE because the medical has expired. It's my approval notice! It's still sinking in, but I'm opening my wine to celebrate! Just waiting for my daughter's one, which for some reason is a few days behind mine. It may mean nothing, but for anyone interested, the approval was granted on Monday, but there is no change to my online status so I don't know if the website is not showing things up right now I'm rooting for the rest of you still waiting. This is the best mother's day gift!

Congratulations Wbeem!

After reading your post I rushed out to the mailbox to see if there was a USCIS envelope waiting inside for me. No so luck! However, reading your post gives me some hope that finally there may be some movement at the Florida offices. Time will tell!

We had our interview on May 2nd at the Seattle office, they approved us!. Since we have been married for more than 2 years the IO told us I would receive my GC for 10 years. Even when there was no changes in the website (it only shows my appointment was scheduled for May 2nd) I received the NOAs for the I-130 and I-485 yesterday. And today I got my GC in the mail. I hope you guys get your appointments and approvals ASAP. A lot of good energy for all of you!

Thanks guys! Seeing others still waiting so long and then getting approved in the last few weeks certainly helped us feel hopeful. That's why it's so important to come back and keep things updated. I think until you're in the waiting game for a while, you don't fully appreciate just how encouraging it is to see others getting approved. I really hope that everyone is now nearing approval status. It looks like the Tampa office is processing around the same rate as Orlando so that should give further hope to you, Chas :)

This is the first time in 21 months that we can actually relax and not think about immigration stuff for a while now. It's like a massive load lifted off of us.

Anyone applying in San Diego? My husband and I have an NOA1 date of November 5th, 2015 had my biometrics December 4th, 2015, and our case has been "Ready to be scheduled for interview" since December 31st. We moved back up to Los Angeles and asked them to transfer our case in February but when we called USCIS a week ago they still had it 'in the pile waiting to be transferred.'

Has anyone had a similar experience or any wisdom to offer? This process is stressful! Thankfully I at least have my work authorization in the meantime.

Is anyone still waiting for their I485 approval? Especially in southern california?

Also- has anyone had a situation, whereby they initially had the notice change to 'waiting to schedule an interview' to direct approval without the interview process?

I'm in San Diego and have had no news since my biometrics on December 9th. Getting a bit frustrated and feeling forgotten by the system.

So Right there with you - my biometrics were December 9th, 2015 and my status has been on "Ready to schedule interview" since december 31st, 2015. We filed in San Diego but then had to move up to LA and they STILL apparently haven't transferred the case or assigned it.

yeah, I have my EAD already, I didn't file for AP, I didn't know i485 would take such a long time. Texas is just too slow .

At least you have your EAD. I was told it wouldn't take this long either and I didn't file for the EAD. :(

My case hasn't updated since Nov 10th on the I-130 and Nov 17th for the 485 and that's stuck on biometrics fee received.

It's hard to not get discouraged when other people are getting approved way faster.

I personally know a family friend who's parents filed Feb 1st and they received their GC 2 weeks ago.

There's a March filer who got approved already too - they went straight to green card.

The USCIS system is archaic and poorly run I have to say. Each time I call USCIS I just get given the run-around, and each time they can't even tell me whether they've received an RFE I sent months ago, nor even which office my case is actually at . And the updating of statuses via their online services is not consistent either.

It's very frustrating not knowing what's going on, and not being able to do anything about it.

I completely agree with you. Inconsistency has been a frustration from the initial K1 petition stage for many of us. The website is no help either.

Mine has never updated, even though I have the paper approval in my hand. My daughter's status went straight to the tracking number saying the card is on its way. Mine, although it appears to have been processed a day before hers, has no updates. In fact the old case for the AP (we already have the combo card) has actually changed from saying it was approved to a notice stating it was returned to USCIS by the post office. I have the dang thing with me. In short, the website is screwed up.

I think what makes it harder when waiting is that the agents you speak to when you call can't see what is happening beyond what we can see on the website. I called on Monday and put in a service request. Apparently we had already been approved, but the agent could see the same as what I could and dutifully obliged with my request. You would have thought she should have been able to see that it was processed already, but it seems they don't have access to any more information than what we can see on the malfunctioning website. It's as reliable as the rhythm method!
