Hi there... I changed my last name through marriage. Question, am I going to write my new last name in all forms that i will be submitting to the uscis for my adjustment of status? Or am i still going to use my old last name since all my documents are in my old last name...? Thanks...

If you do not complete the AOS in your married name then the GC will be issued in your maiden name which is not what you want. The Marriage Certificate is the document you submit to not only show you are married but you use it to officially change your last name. If you use a "wrong" name on the GC, you will either have to wait for removal of conditions (ROC) in order to change it for free or pay and submit the I-90 to get the last name changed--meanwhile you are without the GC until the new one arrives. So fill out the AOS application in the name you wish to use so it will be on your GC.

- Topic moved from K-1 Process to AOS from Work, Student and Tourist Visas - OP is adjusting from tourist visa -

Eighteen years in the US and I still don't understand Velveeta, TV ads for prescription drugs, only getting 2 weeks paid vacation, or why anyone believes anything they see on Fox "News".

Thanks... What about my signature??? Am I also changing my signature? Since my last name will be different?

Yes, you will sign your name with your new last name

There are so so many threads about this. Just adds to the noise. Many of these questions have been asked before.

My take:

Don't make it more complicated than it is. Change your name? then use it. Don't use both and dont waffle back and forth...cause you know what?

Thats confusing as heck...as expected. If you are confused by it, why wouldn't you expect others to be.

If for some reason some legacy thing has your maiden name? have copy of marriage certification available. Have some certified copies on hand just in case. And update it as needed.

Don't want your Green card to show up w/ maiden name? Dont use it.

Agreed, and this thread is now closed to further comments. Don't start any more threads on these very basic, exhaustively discussed topics.

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
