So now that we have received our NOA2 and I have graduated from obsessive compulsive checking the USCIS online case status numerous times a day (and am now checking DHL courier site in the same way), should I just delete the petition on the USCIS site? Is there any reason to keep it up there?

What has everyone else done?

I haven't deleted the site, however, I haven't been to it in a long time. :)

I still visit once a day or once every couple of days (date and status has remained the same - DUH!). Habits die hard! :P

I thought they automatically put the case status online, but if you can delete it, then do you have to add it? Maybe a silly question! I'll probably end up doing the same (checking the status multiple times a day, once our NOA1 comes or whenever I find out our case number, lol)

You know, I don't remember what I did! Now that my husband is here, we've filed AOS and have signed up with USCIS online case status again, but with different case numbers. I would suppose you could keep it and just add your case numbers when AOS time rolls around.

Once the case is approved, that is the end with USCIS. There are no more updates. Only reason to keep it is for the sake of old memories!

I thought they automatically put the case status online, but if you can delete it, then do you have to add it?

Yes, you need to register your case online. You can only do this once you have your case number (after you send in your petition and they send you NOA1 via snail mail). Go to “Case Status Service Online” on the USCIS site. (https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp) Click on “Create/Edit customer portfolio account” and put in the case number. Then put it in your Favorites folder so you can obsessively click on it numerous times a day and check the status. :P

Once the case is approved, that is the end with USCIS. There are no more updates. Only reason to keep it is for the sake of old memories!

That's what I thought. But I'm afraid if I delete it, I might run back and put it up again cuz I would miss it toooo much!

You track your case by dhl.com once your case leaves the NVC. The only way (at least that I know of) checking to see if your case has made it to the NVC is by calling or emailing them.

no need to check it again, it won't change anymore. No need to delete it though.

When AOS begins and you have more receipt numbers to track you just add another case to your portfolio. I still have the k1 petition on there alongside my stagnant aos ones.

There could be a reason to check the status of the petition after it has been approved. Until the petition has been received by NVC, you might still have a need to deal with USCIS. I got "touched" almost two months after the petition was approved because there was some delay in sending it to the NVC. A day or two after the "touch" it was back on track and reached the NVC. This is the exception to the rule, but it is one reason to check the online case status after NOA2.

So after approval at USCIS there's basically no more dealings with them.

How do we know when our package is received by NVC and sent off to the consulates? I notice a lot of people have information pertaining to these dates in their signatures/timelines.

Will we have the ability to access a status page sort of thing with the NVC like we did our I-129Fs with the USCIS?

My timeline:

02 - 09 - 2007 - Sending off of my I-129F package

02 - 13 - 2007 - NOA1 Received

02 - 21 - 2007 - Touched!

03 - 01 - 2007 - NOA2 Received

03 - 02 - 2007 - Touched Again!

03 - 06 - 2007 - NVC Received

03 - 07 - 2007 - Was told by email I-129F will be forwarded to Sydney

03 - 08 - 2007 - I-129F picked up by DHL and on it's way to Sydney!!

03 - 12 - 2007 - Sydney Consulate received packet! From DHL: 1:48 pm Shipment delivered WOOT

03 - 19 - 2007 - Packet Three is sent off!

03 - 20 - 2007 - Corey goes to get his fingerprints/police check completed. Now we wait for the investigation and then I can be assured he's not a criminal =]

03 - 21 - 2007 - Corey gets Pkt 3 via Registered Mail

03 - 22 - 2007 - Sent Corey a copy of all the documents and the notarized I-134.. hopefully everything arrives safely!

04 - 17 - 2007 - Corey's Medical Examination.. Let's hope everything goes great!

05 - 01 - 2007 - Corey's Medical Rescheduled to this date because doctor was away!

05 - 04 - 2007 - Corey's Initial Interview date! (We only had ONE week's notice!)

05 - 30 - 2007 - Corey's Rescheduled Interview date because there was no time for the initial one

Sorry, no status page at NVC like at USCIS.

NVC Info (to find out when your case arrives/leaves there and to get NVC Case number):

Call (603) 334-0700 - press "1" for English then "5" to speak to a rep on the phone. Be ready with USCIS case number, beneficiary name and birthdate. K1 visas are NOT entered into the automatic system. Reps are available 7:30 AM - 12 midnight Eastern time. Call right after they open or right before they close for best results - during the day lines are always busy.

Tracking your file via DHL from NVC to Embassy:

1. Go to http://www.dhl-usa.com/home/home.asp

2. Click on "Track"

3. Click on "Track by Reference"

4. A "Track it by reference" form will come up. Next to "Reference" type in "CORRESPONDENCE"

5. In the "Shipment pickup date range" put in the date the NVC said they mailed off your package.

6. In the box "Origin Postal Code" type in "03801"

7. Press on the red "Track" button

8. Several pages of results will come up. Look through the "Receiver's Name" for your Embassy. There might be several packages going to your embassy - but you won't know which one is yours. Anyway, most sent on the same day will arrive the same day. Press on the red "Tracking number" of any package going to your Embassy and up will come a page showing where it is now.

Aww thanks!! So when we call they will give us our NVC Case number? Or do we get that in the mail first and then provide that case # and the other information to get a status check?
