I REALLY need everyones advice who has been through this. I never expected that we would have to get an interview. What happens at the interview?? What do we need to bring or prove and have? Obviously i dont have much since i dont have my EAD and havent been able to get a joint account with my husband, my name on utillites or drivers license. Im freaking out. They sent the message yesterday. I need to know if i should be freaking out or not? Mu husband and I (from denmark) have been together for 3 years. Seeing each other every single month, for months for 3 years and got married in july this year. My family has been here on vacation for the second time staying with us. I dont know why we were chosen but it is what it is. I just need advice and help so i dont get to upset thinking about this :-( Thanks guys! Camilla

They will ask you to go over questions that were on your application, and you can give them any new information that you have since filing... I used my marriage license to get my husband added onto my bank account and onto some of the utilities. Get what you can before the interview. I'm sure others will chime in soon with more advice -- but don't freak... our AOS interview lasted about 15 minutes :)

If you don't have these already, create wills, healthcare powers of attorney, and similar documents. These are excellent evidence -- typically for removing conditions, but also for AOS. They're even more valuable to have in "life."

Find a lawyer who does these, or look on legalzoom.com and similar sites for templates that are valid in your state of residence.

So i have an extra question regarding this AOS interview. Yesterday we saw on UCSIC webpage that "They are ready to schedule an interview for the I-485 form. We are going on a vacation on thursday for 12 days, is there any reason to cancel our vacation? Should we stay home and wait for the letter and get our papers ready or does it take a long time untill the actual interview? Thank you! Camilla

Thanks guys! We tried to get me added to my husbands bank account but they want to see a state ID, which i cannot get since my SSN card in my new married name hasnt arrived 2 months into it, and have been told it will not get approved until i get my EAD. How do we get me on the utillity bills when they only allow one name? i am freaking out a bit, mostly cause i dont have all these things yet, I was waiting for the EAD to get approved so we actually were allowed to get all these joint things since its proven to be nearly impossible without :-( How long did it take for you to get your actual interview from the day of notice? we havent gotten the actual letter yet, just a notice that " ready to schedule for my interview based on form I-485. We are leaving for 12 vacation thursday should we stay home instead?? Sorry for dumb questions. Im just a little besides myself right now.

We of course are gonna do that;-) we have been on multiple trips since we got married. with names and flights boarding passes saved. just not in my married name since i dont have an ID in that new name so had to be my maiden to match my foreign passport.

I know we just have to fight this whole name thing and see who will let me be joint with my husband eventhough i cannot prove an ID that they need.
my passport and married license dont really help since they need something with my new name. We are gonna apply for credit card for me. Thanks for the help you guys. Hope to hear others experience from the AOS interview.

USCIS knows that you have not been here long, so the evidence you need is much more limited than what you will need for ROC. TBoneX's advice is great for now and for ROC. How about life insurance? Are you listed as beneficiary on any of your spouse's equity or retirement accounts? Don't freak out. The odds are about 50-50 for an AOS interview. Ours was very fast and very easy. You will be able to handle the questions with no problem.

And another thing do you have your address in the same house ?

Any bill or letter with the address can be good for that. Don't be nervous about it they just know when something is real or not just show the pictures you have together and as I said a letter from the usps saying your address any letter from any appointment something that shows your address. My husband add me in his insurance on geico son anytime he received a letter said our names.

The thing with the ssn is that you have to apply for it before the k1 visa is over

I applied for my ssn card in my maiden name a week after i arrived. Then we got married and i applied for a ssn card name change, with 30 days left on my I-94. But for some reason its just not happening. Its been 2 months and crickets. We talked to the office and they say it wont be released till i get my EAD. Sigh. Went down today and got my name on our house lease so thats good! I hope we can try and get another try at adding me to the joint bank account. Do they want to see statements from bank? Cause obviously i need to get it fixed first eventho its been impossible up to now. So im guessing by the time we have the interview i still dont have much joint stuff to show off. Except for joint medical and life insurance 401k and house lease. Its all we can do since we havent gotten the EAD yet and wont untill this interview. Thanks for all the advice guys! I appriciate it! I also didn't receive the actual letter for the AOS interview. I have to tell my husband to add me to our apartment lease... but that should be ok and pictures from the wedding and trips. If you do not have a SSN its very hard to get a joint account or anything else for that matter.

Yes I got my ssn after I got married. But I think with the lease and the insurance it's OK bring pictures proof of address and that would be OK because when they ask for thingsome they would know for sure if is real or not. Just put all the stuff in order the pictures with names and dates in the back and any single thing you can get of anything.
