I just came back from a 2 week trip abroad. I got an infopass appointment before my trip and got the i-551 stamp in my passport. They told me as well that all I needed was my passport to travel and to be able to come back to the USA. Being paranoid as I am I also brought my expired green card and extension letter with me. When I got back to New York they just looked at the passport and they told me that when you travel with the i-551 stamp they always have to do some extra verification so I was taken into the side room. The lady looked through my passport and checked her computer. Took an extra 5-10 minutes - then I was good to go. Wish you the best of luck.

Thanks! I have to cross into Canada in the next month at a land border crossing and I am so nervous. I lost my actual expired Greencard, so I will just have the letter and the stamp in my passport. I plan to bring to bring my biometrics notice too...juat to have more proof

  • 2 weeks later...

Just sent in my RFE documentation to USCIS on monday visa certified mail and the tracking shows that it was delivered today. Let´s hope it doesn't take another year for them to get to the RFE :crying: Hopefully the documentation is enough.

This is what I submitted:

  • Copies of joint tax statements for year 2015

  • Documentation from my husband’s 401k reflecting myself as a beneficiary

  • Copies of bank statements from our joint checking and savings accounts

  • Copies of Car insurance documentation covering both my husband and myself

  • Copies of NationalGrid and ConEdison and Time Warner Cable bills in my husbands and my

    name reflecting our shared address

  • Copies of pay stubs from my employer and my husbands employer reflecting joint address.

  • Copies of my husband’s drivers license and my drivers permit showing the same address.

  • Copy of travel itinerary from a joint vacation trip to Japan.

  • Photographs from our vacation in Japan & South Korea

Hi!

Still nothing. Waiting patiently.

To make you feel better: We submitted our RFE at the exact same time as you, have the same local office as you and also haven't heard back yet.

Hows everyone who is waiting doing? I put in a request to my congressman and they have told me its waiting on the background check. Wonder is it the same for anyone else who is still waiting?

I mailed the additional documentation overnight to Vermont last week Tuesday, they received and signed for it on Wednesday 11 am. Had to go to the local office to get the I551 stamp for work authorization :(. Any ways they better not come back to me and say i gave them one bank statement (I gave them entire year) as well as tax return with no filing status and best one I copied the car lease and they said it had no signatures. Now I gave them a nice response listing what I've provided. I have highlighted and used post it stamps to indicate joint names as well as joint signatures. Over 300 pages, so now they cant come back and say I didnt give enough information. I really hope they review the info and issue the green card so that i can apply for citizenship. Good luck to all the ones waiting!
