Hi,

I have a Mexican woman friend that wants to get a tourist visa B1/B2. However, more than 6 months ago she applied and got rejected with the presumption that could stay in the USA. She showed little paperwork to the immigration office since she didn't ask any. However, she doesn't want to stay in the USA, she only wants to go to visit her relatives for max of 2 weeks. That time she was the only one that applied, her 4 year old daughter and her husband did not apply.

She wants to apply again. This time she is thinking to apply again but with her daughter now so they can both see San Francisco and LA with some of her relatives. Her husband won't apply because his work won't give him a chance to miss work for a few weeks.

Is she better off applying with her daughter, or would her possibilities decrease if her daughter applies as well?

1. A relative is willing to pay her expenses (what should the sponsor provide in terms of documents?

2. What other documents can she present to show that has intentions to return back to Mexico?

3. Does she need to get a return air ticket to prove she has intentions of returning?

4. Should she buy tour tickets to let the immigration know of what her plans are?

Thanks, your support is highly appreciate it!

1, She should show she has the funds to pay her own way.

2. Whatever she has.

3. No, certainly not until she has a visa.

4. No.

My fiance was denied a visitor visa three times before finally being approved. The embassy wants to see that you have strong ties to your home country that will prove a reason to return.

Your friend should bring proof that they have a house/apartment in their name, utility bills in their name, if they've been at their job for a year or more have them ask their boss to write a letter saying that they work there and how much they make per month, proof of a savings account and past pay stubs, that should help with providing ties to Mexico.

I wouldn't suggest buying any tickets before hand, unless you can make sure they are refundable. You never know how the interview will go. If they have vacation time with their job, they can also ask their boss to write a letter stating they must return to their job by a certain date.

Hope it works out!
