Got a hold of NVC last night after dialing 30+ times and repeatedly being told by the automated system that due to a large number of calls they couldn't get to me and to call back later... :ranting: Once I got through the wait was about 45 minutes to speak to an actual human being. Our case was forwarded on 9/4 by TSC and NVC assigned us a case number on 9/16. Good luck to everyone in getting a hold of NVC; it's not easy!

I believe you can complete de DS-160 even though your file is still a NVC, as long as you don't send your Packet 3 yet. At least I know this is the case for my consulate, maybe someone else who has experience with yours can help. Might be better to ask the question in your region's subforum as the process is different from one consulate/embassy to the next! :)

I'm not sure for your second question. I would imagine that since he will need his own DS-160 and barcode, that you would have to start anew for him. Good luck!

As for me, our petition has made it to MTL and our status says 'Ready'! I'm unwilling to wait for them to send me Packet 3, so following the advice of other Canadian VJers, I'm planning on just waiting for the second update on CEAC, which will indicate that they have logged the petition. The second I notice the next update, I will email them Packet 3. Not a lost minute! :content:

My daughter is 9 years old and I made a profile for her. I don't know how the embassy in Bucharest works but the instructions from the USEM in Tokyo clearly say every applicant must have a profile, regardless of age.

When I finished my own profile, in the last part where you can add family members, I put in my daughters 's info and because she had her own profile it automatically found her and linked her profile to mine.

When is your interview scheduled?

Hi Mickey2014:

I was in the same dilemma in that I got our NVC Case number and then went to see my fiancée in Vietnam to assist with the DS-160 2 days after getting the case number. Each country is different, however I read an earlier post from a Vietnam VJ post that said go for it, don't wait for PKT3. So I went ahead while there and did the DS-160 for my fiancée and her son. You need to make one application for each person. I am glad I did it there because in Vietnam you have to pay visa fees at either a HSBC bank or at the Vietnam Post Office. We managed to get it completed and then printed out the forms to go pay just before the bank closed on a Friday. Barely made it. By the way the ceac website will show two case number after you do this. One for your fiancée and one for the child. The number is the same as what you got from the NVC with a suffix of 01 for the fiancée K-1 and 02 for the K-2 visa

You will receive a confirmation on the USTravelDocs.com website and after they know you paid your fees, so once that happens you can go ahead and schedule your interview. We had some second thoughts on doing it so soon so we shopped interview days for about a week waiting for our PKT3 to show up. Our status the whole time on the Dept of State (ceac) website said "Ready" since Sept 8. I am glad we waited because we found a date we liked that opened up that allowed us the time to get the medical done. Mind you we could not get our medical done in Vietnam without the front page of the PKT3. On Sept 16 we made the decision to forge ahead and made our appointment for Sept 7 which was perfect to get everything done. We guessed correctly because yesterday our PKT3 showed up at my fiancées house and we were able to schedule the medical for her and her son for early next week.

As a tip, you can make an appointment on the USTravelDocs.com website and then change it. So if I had to give some advice, I would sign up for the interview that is best when you get your payment confirmed, and then check back periodically under "reschedule interview" to see if you can finder earlier dates that work, or later dates if you need more time to get stuff together.

Your experience may be different than this, but this is what we did and it seemed to work so far.

Good Luck

Well I called the consulate in Tokyo today but to no avail.

To describe the conversation as vague would be an understatement... the person on the phone was more interested in my NOA2 and NVC notice and didn't care much that I kept repeating the status said ready, I wasn't asked or allowed to give the case number, I was asked for my passport number, name and DOB and was told to wait patiently...

I send my Packet 3 today! It may have been too early, but I suppose I can just send it again if I get no response within a week.

I've been told by other Montreal VJers that when the Updated date changes on your CEAC 'Ready' status, that means they've logged your case and that you can send them Packet 3, even though you haven't received anything from them yet. Well, my status showed 'Ready' on Monday, so I thought I'd have to wait about a week for them to log my case and update CEAC. However, this morning, the Updated date changed from September 21 to September 23! That seems quick to me, so I'm not 100% sure that means they have actually logged my case. But since I'd already prepared my packet 3 email (it was sitting in my email drafts all ready to go), I took a chance and sent it. We'll see!

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Ireland
Timeline

I'm starting to get nervous, got my case number last Thursday, and my petition still is at NVC. Anyone know what can potentially be holding it up? Those of you who have been sent to embassy already, how many days did it take? I've heard that NVC sends to a particular embassy once a week, so hopefully it's Thursday for Dublin, as that can be the explanation .

Our K-1 journey:

3/2/2015- Petition sent Fedex overnight

3/3/2015- Petition received (NOA1 according to USCIS website)

3/5/2015- Paper NOA1 notice date

9/1/2015- NOA2!! (182 days)

9/4/2015- sent to NVC

9/17/2015- finally got through to NVC and case number assigned

9/24/2015-Status changed to "in transit"

9/29/2015-Dublin Embassy Received

9/29/2015-Packet 3 Received

10/7/2015- Medical scheduled

10/7/2015- Packet 3/readiness sent (Dublin Embassy needs medical complete before readiness is sent)

10/8/2015- Interview scheduled for Oct 29
