Hi Kieren,

Thanks for replying. Does your P4 instruction requires Biometrics? Imne does not have anything related to that. The Embassy page says it is for non-immigrant visa. Some of the visa interview reviews I read of recent also stated they had to do Biometrics inside on the day of the interview. Can you direct me to the requirements?

1. There are only 5 fingerprint locations in all of India. All Delhi interviewees get their biometrics done at Delhi; no biometrics setup in Mohali.

2. If the applicant is driving\flying to Delhi from another State for the interview, it is better to schedule biometrics one day before the interview (arrive a day ahead). From what I've read, you will not be allowed into the embassy without proof of biometrics.

Can anyone tell me how long it takes for the actual visa? I heard they mail it out three days after you pass the interview? If that's true, can my husband stay in Delhi for that?

Also, the doctor in Mohali is asking for 7000 rupees... Is that correct?

USE NWD page states that photo and fingerprinting is for non-immigrant visa

This is the Immigration visa requirement link for NWD: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-iv-visaapplyinfo.asp

An immigrant visa applicant must schedule and complete a Biometrics appointment. Go to ustraveldocs, create an account, and schedule a Category 1 appointment. Without prior fingerprinting, applicant may be refused entry into the embassy day of interview.

I believe Dwheels also addressed your question in the october interview thread.

PS: if applicant lives in delhi, schedule a time that's convenient, else if living outside of delhi, schedule biometrics a day prior to interview.

I think you are good to go. Doubt you'll need all the documents mentioned. Passport, Interview letter, ds260 confirmation are key.

Only my email address was on file so only I received

Then I suggest you forward her the email and have her print out a couple of copies.

(I'm not sure how a case without an email address is handled. Maybe she might get something in the post, maybe not. I dont know. I wouldn't rely on the Indian Postal Service, so I suggest fwding and printing the email.)
