I am putting together my i129f...

should I include my foreign fiance's birth certificate?

I know they do not ask for it, but I have heard mumblings on the board about people adding it, any advice?

If you include it, make sure it is translated into English. Some include it, some do not. I did just to be safe and avoid an RFE .

I was told to include it by a friend that has her own immigration business. She does hundreds of filings each year. However, now that we are waiting for our interview to be scheduled I've gone ahead and told my fiancee to get another one since it's required and we're not sure where the first one is. I emailed the Embassy yesterday, no response as yet.

Anybody know where added docs might go to??

It isn't a part of the requirements but I would recommend including it and make sure it is the long form with the parents listed on the certificate. I felt it was better to be safe than sorry. Good luck!

As others have suggested, include it if you can. I didn't for my petition and got approve with no RFE. It should be translated as the service center processing your case may not know a birth certificate from a high school diploma.

If you don't have it translated, and to get a translation would hold you up, I honestly wouldn't bother. Definitely don't send it untranslated - that's a sure way to earn yourself an RFE, even though the birth certificate isn't required.

I wonder how many people have really been asked for the non-USC's birth certificate? One confused adjudicator sending out a couple of unnecessary RFEs here and there, and the result is a big panic about sending something that's not even asked for!

For the record... we didn't send my birth certificate (I'm the foreign fiancee) and got approved just fine.

We sent my fiance's BC - basically for consistency and to prove who he is

It was translated by a professional and so we sent the original (in Portuguese) with the translation.

Im the foreign fiance/spouse and I didn't include mine and it all went through fine.

Same here! We sent a copy of his, but as the orginal is falling apart (has been taped back together) and is virtually illegible in places (like, you can't read his year of birth, or his mother's name properly... and a few other things), I was convinced we'd get an RFE for it. But we didn't. I do now have a shiny new certified copy of it in my possession though, to take to the interview - just in case they ask!

The birth certificate of the beneficiary isn't required at this point. I didn't include my foreign fiance's certificate and all went well with no RFE. Good Luck :0)
