Question about Affidavit of Support for minor children

Hi Everyone,

Question: If the USC steparent petitioned for the minor children of his/her spouse, got approved, and moved here in the US, then months after, the wife becomes citizen, if and when marriage fail, will the Affidavit of Support from the USC step parent still be in effect after divorce with the biological mom/dad of the minor children?

( FYI: this is not for me, this had just been a question asked by my cousin when we had a chat last night. And NO my cousin is not thinking about divorcing her husband. The husband just don't wan't to petition the minor children for fear of being liable to support the minor children if and when marriage fails )

If the kids were under 18 living in the US as GC holders, when the mother naturalized. Then they are also USC so no more AOS in play.

Yes, affadavits of support last until the kids move out of the US or become citizens.

Actually the same terms as with and adult, until the person being cover by the document becomes a USC, gets 40 quarters of qualified work or dies. Moving out has nothing to do with ended the commitment.
