K-1 - Have no record of medical history. What do I do for the exam?

Hello!

I haven't been to a family doctor since I was 11 (maybe?), possibly one or two other times in my life before that. Aside from when I had tonsilitis this past winter to which I went to urgent care to get a penicillin prescription for, I have only been to a hospital two other times in my life for me, once when I was 7 and my mom wanted to make sure I didn't break my arm, and literally when I was born.

Obviously, it would be very difficult-to-actually-impossible to acquire my medical record as I do not have a family doctor. I am a resident of Ontario and have been my entire life.

I am worried that I will have no way of getting a physical medical history file to bring with me to my medical exam for my K-1 and that will in some way harm my application as there would be no proof of the above. What do I do? Should I call Telehealth? Do they just ask you questions at the interview?

The only relevant thread for that particular issue was here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/100975-no-medical-records/but that thread is from Dec. 2007 and as it is much later, I want to know if anything has changed as far as a verbal medical history being totally okay goes.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks!,

- Chris

Chris - a complete medical exam plus vaccinations will be done by the civil surgeon - lack of your medical history not matter, that doc and staff will suss it all out via a conversation with you.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

You don't HAVE to have a medical history file with you - not everyone does, but you do need to try to obtain your immunization history. I was able to obtain mine from our local regional health unit (Regional Municipality of Waterloo in my case) - they were able to send a copy of my immunizations over the years from when I was young to those done at school etc....

You're probably due fo ran immunization (or booster) such as Tetanus if you haven't had one in 10 yrs.

Wicked! Thanks. :)

Yeah, I've got the record on the way from home (Englehart) and I (apparently) don't need to worry about the record of the Hep A vaccine I got at a travel clinic in Kitchener (so that you said Waterloo was pretty funny to me. :)) as I was living there and am in London now, so it'll probably just be a Tetanus booster. Are those free? Could I just grab one of those at a walk-in? :)

It's also good to know the physical medical file isn't absolutely necessary. Appreciated.

Good question - I'm sure they could be obtained at an Urgent Care or walk-in. I would suppose you could just ask for a booster since you haven't had one in a while.

Another thing - look at the vaccinations required on the site of whoever will do your immigration medical, just to be prepared in case you're missing anything.

Here's an example from one of the doctor's sites
