Timeline

There are two separate timing issues; sorry if I didn't clarify enough what I meant. One is at the moment a person decides to go to the SSA -- not going immediately, but 10-14 days after the most recent status change, so that the correct info is already in the system. We seem to more or less agree on that point.

The other issue is when to even update a SS card in the first place. As I said, I think that it makes most sense to update the SSA records once a person has completed their "immigration journey". Assuming s/he is planning to go through with naturalization, that would be the last step. Otherwise it seems to me one has to do two updates (after green card receipt and after naturalization). Given that we can keep using the old SS card in combination with the new green card, I simply don't see why I'd want to take the trip to the SSA twice. I might be missing something, of course, so am interested to hear more opinions/further discussion, especially if people have already dealt with this. Probably not many on this thread directly, but maybe your friends or relatives who have gone through these steps earlier. Or simply how you are interpreting the instructions/my reading of them.

Why would you have to update your SS after naturalization? Once you have removed the ""Valid only with DHS authorization." after getting a green card, why would you need another card? Also. from what I have read, a valid Socail security card without the "Valid only with DHS authorization." is enough with a valid ID to prove that you can work legally, without the need for a green card. That may come in handy in the rare scenario you have lost your green card and are waiting on a replacement while attempting to pursue a employment.

I just received my green card too. (And it is green!) :joy:

One thing to the site admins though -- even though I have been updating in my timeline any new development diligently (including the GC receipt just now), the link by my profile still said "Adjustment of status (pending)". It took me a while to figure out that this does not change automatically based on what you enter in your timeline, but had to be changed manually from Profile. That could be more intuitive.

I saw such a summary done on another month's thread and thought it was very helpful to get a sense of the process.

Our thread doesn't have a ton of people so here is my best effort to update everybody on where things stand. I included everybody adjusting from non-family visas who has posted here since July, even if their NoA date was in June. I did NOT include anyone adjusting from K or FB visas since their process is sufficiently different to not be so informative for comparison purposes. There are profiles without timelines and timelines that have not been updated for a while, but I hope the result still provides some useful info both for all of us on the thread and for future readers.

I know it should have been combo card but the sent my EAD card first then after that is my AP. I was also surprised that I dont have interview. I didn't receive any interview waiver as well. This however, is commonly happening to all other K1 visa holders and I am one of the lucky ones :)

That's some impressive work right there!!! Sadly though, just makes me feel a bit insecure/discouraged since it seems like "everyone" by now either has a date or even already have a GC in hand.... Our priority date was July 30th, no RFE, EAD approved and NO INTERVIEW DATE YETtttttttttt... Sigh but we are in Las Vegas... According to the stats of "days from biometrics to interview" we should've been scheduled first week of December... It must be delays because of holiday season.. Nonetheless trying to keep my chin up! Not gonna lie, I'm getting sentimental over this being Christmas time and our future is up in the air..whew sorry you guys! I'm really happy for everyone who is done! I just gotta be strong!

I hope you get to hear something soon, I feel your pain... on the plus side your EAD was approved and you had no RFEs, both are very good signs! Try to relax over the holidays.
