Interview on Wednesday, what should I wear? Tips for the interview?

Hi everybody,

first of all thank you a lot for all the help you provided us with!

The interview date is coming soon, this Wednesday, and I wanted to ask if I should wear a suit or business casual ( a formal shirt with jeans and a tie maybe?)

I prepared the following things to be taken with me: (my wife lives since two years with me and left to the US only like 2 months ago)

1- all original documents (some of them with translations)

2- pictures of my and my wife (printed on regular papers, there is lots of them, I did not print everything)

3- addresses registration in the city hall (meldebescheinigung)

4- 2013 and 2014 joint tax filing (in Germany).

5- Joint bank account statements.

7- flight tickets and boarding passes.

8- medical bills for both of us to the same address.

9- apartment lease contract with both our names on it

10- family medical insurance

11- she's now pregnant (i dont know if it would make any sense to take a proof of pregnancy), and that's why she didnt come back from the US (she has horrible nausea now, and worried to get on a flight).

12- registration for passport delivery.

13- confirmation of DS-260 submission.

14- appointment letter.

15- recent passport pics.

16- joint sponsor's 2014 tax filing.

is that enough? anything else needed?

You have the ultrasound pic in your evidence correct that will speak to their heart. If they ask why your wife isn't there tell them why.

You should wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing. too many people dress not like themselves and they are already nervous now they made it even worst.

Maybe it's different in Germany but why would you need all that proof of relationship, like family medical insurance etc?! Haven't you already sent all your bona fida evidence with your I-130 package? In my opinion, to the embassy, you would only bring proof of a continuous relationship from when you sent in the petition and maybe some more photos. I mean didn't you already send apartment lease and family insurance to USCIS?

I agree with dwheels, you should wear what you feel comfortable with. I'm sure you'll be nervous about so many other things, no need to have to worry about the clothes you wear too. Good luck with your interview.

we send lots of things with the i-130. Will take new pictures with me, etc.

the picture of our future baby lol

business casual is the best in such situations, the weather is already hot and I would hate to wear a suit lol

Wear comfortable clothing.. maybe a sky blue shirt, if you have one, as it's most aesthetically pleasing and easy on the eyes.

I agree with the others - wear something you feel comfortable in. No need for a suit. I saw LOTS of people at the interview in Frankfurt in jeans and regular shirts. Personally, I wore a nice pair of dark-gray slacks, comfortable black/white tennis shoes, and a pullover (since my interview was in November). Good luck.
