So we need some state driver's license help.

My wife got her ID card, which is only valid for the 90 days from the day she entered on her K-1 visa. Now she wants to test for her driver's license. So the 90 days is up on September 2nd. What experiences have you all had with acquiring a driver's license and how long have they been valid for?

Yeah..it absolutely depends on your state. In Missouri I can get my driver's license only when I get my combo card with work permit or with NOA2 (approved GC). Check with your dmv office

I'm frm WA state, i don't have a SSN yet and i just got my state ID last week which is valid until 2021. We had to go to an interview at the DMV office. I also just got my Learner's Permit about a week after I got my state ID since I don't want to take the Driver's Test yet and I wanted to learn the rules of the road in my state. My Permit is valid for 1 year. In 2-3 months I'm gonna take the driver's test and apply for the license.

We are a little concerned. We filed for our AOS/EAD/AP on July 1st. I had my biometrics appointment on July 30th. But we have not heard anything from them, either via email or regular mail.

Checking the status online, it says:

Regarding AOS: On July 2, 2015, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status

Regarding EAD and AP: On July 1, 2015, we received your Form X-XXX, Application for XXXXXXXXXXXXX , Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXXX, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case.

No other updates since that time. Should we worry about this?

I honestly have a couple of job offers waiting for me, and our economic situation is difficult (she had to change jobs and her paycheck is coming really late), so we could really use our EAD right now.

Any opinions on this?

Almost in same boat with you even though I didn't submit same time as you.

I need to start working asap and I requested for expiditing my EAD but haven't heard from them after I fax the additional information they requested.

I don't know how long wait after faxing the documents across to uscis

As I see the most of June filers started getting their EADs.. I guess some of us might be getting some updates in 1-2 weeks...

We filed our AOS/EAD/AP on June 25th, and still haven't heard anything. As Punchy said, we probably won't hear anything for another week or so. Seems like mostly early and mid June filers have been receiving approvals this week.

I guess it all depends on which state you're applying from. In Atlanta, my permit was for my i-94 date which should expire on Sept 5. But I went in for my road test last week and I got Driver's License for 4 months with my NOA1.

Some states gives up to 6 months or 1 year with NOA1. So just check their website or call them.

Good luck

I'm assuming with your NOA1 for the adjustment of status and not the EAD or AP.

Thank you so much for your help.

Wow your ID is valid for a long time, they went based off of my wife's I-94.

Our DMV isn't very informed on what they needed just for the ID, so I'm trying to prepare myself for their lack of knowledge when it comes to a driver's license. Hopefully they will take the NOA1. Thank you for your response ?

Hey everyone - I haven't been commenting on this form, only because I'm adjust from a work visa to GC based on marriage, but I filed on June 24th, got NOA on June 30th and my biometrics were on July 22nd. I just got notice this morning that my EAD is in production, my AP has not yet been approved. Give it a few more days and everything should come in - trust me I was feeling the way you do up until early this morning. I checked the app around 8am and it had updated - and online it was updated. I got an email about 2 hours later, but never got a text. So be sure to check all aspects, as I know it has been different for everyone!

Stay positive - it will happen! I should also note that my status always remained as "fee accepted" or "received application" so although it was frustrating to have no news, it was also nice not to get an RFE.

I was also surprised that it was valid for a long time! Basically, what they needed was letters with my address on it. I think it's also important that the letters are from the government/bills and not from friends and shopping online. So I showed them the letter I received from the DMV, passport, visa, my NOA1s, my biometrics appointment letters from the USCIS, my marriage certificate, and my letter from the social security office stating they can't provide me with my SSN yet because I'm almost out of status when I applied, and lastly, my letter from the boards of pharmacy. It was a quick 5 minute interview. :) Hope that helps!!

You are right.

I guess we are next since our biometrics is just 2 days apart.

I want to believe we should start receiving updates from the next week.

The funny thing is if they start approving eads for july I will not know mine until I receive the card itself in the mail..lol..

Still can't track my case online..
