IF2 to IR2 ?

My wife's son 10 year green card has him listed as IF2. Now that my wife is a US citizen do I need to have his category changed to IR2 ( son of a US citizen) ? Or just leave it alone. At some point, perhaps next year, he will be applying for US citizenship as well, if that makes any difference. Thanks for any advice.

i recall something about a LPR's leap to citizenship status, the child would get auto-citizenship if the right conditions were met.

have you had a chance to review that stuff?

i understand your question, but IMO, chasing that 'auto-citizenship' for the child might be a better thing to focus on, at the moment.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I did a little bit of research on this but I think what you are referring to applies to children under 18. He is 25 and I did not adopt him. He retain his fathers name. Although he is a derivative on his moms K! I don't think this way will fly.
