AOS/GreenCard??

I'm entering the U.S. on a K-1 visa.When does my 2 year conditional Green Card status actually begin to kick in? When the card is in hand? or right after I've been approved for AOS? I find many things in this visa process are very vague in explaining step by step how everything is handled. Thanks for your answers!!

Ok.. here is short answer and you may know some of this already..

Enter USA, get married within 90 days, file AOS papers, wait for USCIS to do their thing, get green card (2 year timer starts now).

When you get the green card, it will state the valid and expiration date.

After you apply for AOS and receive the green card, it will be valid from date of approval.

I am looking to see what immigration status my fiancé will be after we submit the AOS. On the USCIS site, it looks like he will be conditional permanent resident, even though the two year time starts after we receive the green card. Can anyone clear this up for me?

After filing and while still waiting for approval, he will just be an adjustment applicant. No real status, other than being a non-resident in an authorized stay while waiting for AOS to be approved. Once his AOS is approved, THEN he will be a conditional permanent resident, which is really just the same as being a permanent resident with a 10 year card, but he will need to file for ROC within 90 days of his 2 year card expiring.
